Feeling like I've been hit with the flu

Is this typical of recovery with your second delivery? I'm achy all over like I have the flu. I don't remember being in this much pain with DD. Her delivery was much more difficult as well. The nurse at the hospital said I would cramp more. But I didn't expect this.

Re: Feeling like I've been hit with the flu

  • Mastitis can make you feel that way. That might be something to just double check.

I hope you feel better soon.

  • Flu-like symptoms can also be a symptom of mastitis.  Keep an eye on your temperature.  Never had it, but have heard it's hell.  My recovery wasn't very bad with #2, though I DID get a slight incision infection.  I had a vaginal birth (and 4th degree tear) with E and then a C-section with A.  I DID cramp more, and had nursing cramps with A that I didn't with E.  Hope you get to feeling better!

  • Oh no, I hope you feel better! Definitely keep an eye on your temp and notify your OB right away if you do have one. Also call your doctor ASAP if your pain meds aren't controling your pain. You could also feel like this just from having a newborn. Sleep deprivation always makes me feel awful! Try to get as much rest as possible - I know this seems virtually impossible with a newborn! Order take-out, use paper plates, just nurse at night and get DH to do the rest if possible! Ok, I better stop now before I write a book (being a PP nurse can do this to you)!

  • I'm thinking mastistis. I had it with Graham and it felt just like the flu. Call your dr!

  • Call the doc.  Could be mastitis.

  • Just like everyone else said, mastitis. It is the worst pain I had ever felt, worse than the c-sections. Def call the doctor.

    Hope you feel better soon.
