They probably won't even try to hear it with a doppler because you are too early. They didn't hear my 1st at 10 weeks so I had to wait until the next appt. to hear it.

If they told you that you are for sure having an ultrasound you should be able to see the heartbeat.... Apparently some machines will simulate the sound of a heart beat as well. My clinic would not even try using the doppler to hear the heartbeat until 10 weeks and even then they prefer to wait until 12 weeks. It is not easy to find that early and can worries moms if they can't hear it.
if they use a doppler, they may not be able to find it yet, but it is a possibility.
if they do a t/v u/s odds are you will see and hear it.

This, plus, if you are skinnier, than it is easier to hear earlier, with that said I was 10 weeks and never heard HB. I went last week at 13 weeks 1 day and saw Hb at ultrasound and saw baby. BTW baby just gets a beating heart at 6 weeks and is pretty small. So if your dates are off-even by a week for sure you wont hear anything on a doppler.
Yes, you should (even if you are alittle overweight, as I am) I had an abdominal u/s at 7w3d and heard that wonderful heart beat. Super loud and strong and 158! Good Luck!
Baby Jaxon born 8/18/2012 @ 9:53am, 7lb 2oz!! At 37 weeks 5 days due to Pre-E via C-section.
