1. What week are you in? Any new aches or pains? 39 weeks and I actually feel really good!
2. When is your next appointment? Will anything special happen at that appointment? It's today- just a normal check-in.
3. What are you looking forward to this week? A light week with few meetings and time to get a lot of work done.
4. Monday confession? I have realized that I actually will miss work and my amazing team. They're great people and I love my job- it's going to be wonderful to be home, but part of me is struggling to let go.

When you planned for long distance relatives visiting after baby arrives, are you asking them to come back to back, or giving yourself a week or so of alone time in between visitors (given that everyone wants to come at once, but I don't have the patience/accommodations/desire for that. ?Orca11 We have discouraged out of town visitors for the first 6 weeks, but then are opening ouir house to anyone as long as we can schedule them so that they don't overlap- we only have one guest room after all. I suppose if they wanted to stay in a hotel then it would be fine to have more people.

(but I know I won?t be doing anything for a while!) -abrismum You'll probably still get a lot of gender neutral clothes- they'll still be cute and if you really don't want them you can just keep the tags on them. At my showers a lot of people provided gift receipts- though I loved everything and it's all staying with the baby.
10. Questions for next week? If you went 'med-free' and were over your EDD- what did you do to get labor going or what did your team do? I'll ask my midwives today, but I'm curious about how late I can go and what they'll try since the usual cocktails that the hospital provides are not an option at a birth center.

38wks! i'm extremely uncomfortable in my girly bits, and that sometimes goes up a little bit into my lower pelvis. i'm not really sure what this is. also, i've dropped so low that my big belly hits my thighs to the point where i can hardly breathe. i need to sit WAY-spread-eagle.
2. When is your next appointment? Will anything special happen at that appointment?
wednesday. i'm not sure if there's any more "special" appointments. just going to check progress. considering a membrane sweep, but i'm scared it will hurt!
3. What are you looking forward to this week?
finishing up cleaning the baby room and just overall prepping.

i didn't eat any "real" food yesterday (after breakfast). only superbowl snacks--but that included celery, so that's healthy, right? (dipped in ooey-gooey dips)...

no, i will be at home plenty-- if they're willing to come, i'm willing to have them. they are all pretty reasonable and will likely stay with my IL's, anyways.

i bought a few cute things here and there of gender-neutral-variety. when i got closer (within 90 days of due date/return policy), i started buying more things from BRU specifically for boys or for girls. once we find out what we have, i'll be able to return the items that we don't need (or gift them--i have friends due after me having both boys and girls).
Pregnant Questions
1. What week are you in? Any new aches or pains? 38 this week. Lots of bh, with lower pressure, no appetite and hb is out of control.
2. When is your next appointment? Will anything special happen at that appointment? Wedn NST, Thur OB. We will talk more about my 39 week "light" induction, if I am still pg by the date scheduled.
3. What are you looking forward to this week? Dinner with girlfriends, finishing some nursery things. Maybe *crossing fingers/toes* having a baby.
4. Monday confession? My growth scan on Saturday showed baby is measuring a week ahead (38.5) and estimated at 7.5lbs. Freaking me out a little bit. But I still enjoyed ice cream every night.
5. 2+ moms, how long were you dilated for before baby came? ?jennlin With M I was induced at 38 weeks, not dilated at all. With W he came on his own at 39, i had been a 1 at my apt 2 days before and was a 4 when i checked into triage. Now I am a 2, and have been since Friday.
6. Did you do the GD test? Which one? Why (if you thought about it)? ?fyziksgirl My ob does the 1 hr test.
7. Recommend your big diaper bag- I will have 2 in cloth so I'll need something roomier than the one I currently have. ?TacticalTurtleneck I have a Fleurville tote and love it, but it most likely isn't big enough for what you need.

He is booked for the 1st week of March, over a long weekend. You don't know how labor is going to go, or your recovery so I don't recommend having oot family right away, unless you know they are helpful and not more work for you.

This is our 3rd surprise, we have a mix of stuff. A couple ducky items (we are u of o fans, so this works), my favorite are gap's newborn line. They have chocolate brown, lime green, plain white and some cute polkadots. Plus they wash and wear amazing. All they really need in the beginning is basics, you will have lots of time and fun going out to get boy or girl stuff once they have arrived.

1. What week are you in? Any new aches or pains? Week 23. Nothing new. I must say, I'm liking 2nd Tri, sometimes I don't even feel pregnant.

I'm not sure about the "why" part.... it's required by every dr from what I understood. I did an early one, the 1 hour test and passed. But I am still supposed to take another within the next month or so.

I don't have experience in this area, but I know for me I would like a break in between. Just where it's just me and the baby and me, baby and daddy. This is for long distance relatives because they tend to stay around longer in the home or stay in your home.
My little sister is graduating high school a week after I'm due, so family will be coming to visit and it will be busy with the birth and her. DH's parents want to come so I have requested they give me a couple weeks before they come so I can get settled in and not worry about entertaining or being rude to company.

I would think yellow, orange, green, browns/tan and blues would be gender nuetural to get your through some of the earlier days. Then you wild shopping when you find out the sex.

For ladies who chose natural birth. I am debating on getting a doula, but that is an extra cost OOP $700-$1000 and I don't think it's in the budget. Is it worth getting a doula and shelling out the money or was your OB/Midwife able to follow your birth plan enough to where you wouldn't have needed one?

1. What week are you in? Any new aches or pains? I am 4 weeks, 3 days. I am S-I-C-K! This baby is making me work for it. I am also still crampy, exhausted, and moody.
2. When is your next appointment? Will anything special happen at that appointment? I haven't made one yet. I am going to call Swedish today.
3. What are you looking forward to this week? The week being over so that I have N home for two days again.
4. Monday confession? I don't think I am going to wear a bra today. My bras are all too tight and it feels better to not wear one.

1. What week are you in? Any new aches or pains? Wk. 24, I think I have a pinched nerve in my lower left back that is killing me the last couple days.
2. When is your next appointment? Will anything special happen at that appointment? Thur. 2/9. Reg. check up.
3. What are you looking forward to this week? 4-day work week!
4. Monday confession? I cannot stop eating! I feel like all I do is eat and pee.
5. 2+ moms, how long were you dilated for before baby came? never dilated/labored with DD #1.
6. Did you do the GD test? Which one? Why (if you thought about it)? I did the 1-hour GD test, drank the juice, drew blood, went on my merry way. I did it because undetected GD can cause major complications with your pregnancy and have some very negative effects on your unborn child. I see no reason not to do the test and control the GD with diet and exercise if possible.
7. Recommend your big diaper bag- I will have 2 in cloth so I'll need something roomier than the one I currently have. I have a Petunia Picklebottom from DD#1. I loved it, but actually thought it was too big most of the time for just 1 kiddo. I'm sure it will come in handy this time.

I didn't have any long distance visitors really. But I would definitely have down time in between them. You'll be exhausted and emotional and just want to be quiet and focus on your new little family.

Or, buy some of each, don't open them and keep the receipt with them and only use what you need and return the rest. I'm also a big fan of lots of white onesies since you can throw them in the wash with some bleach and they work for boys or girls.

We're at 39w4d, holy crap. The past few days, my major joints (hips and shoulders) have been feeling like the associated limbs are about to fall off my body entirely.
2. When is your next appointment? Will anything special happen at that appointment?
Tomorrow morning at 9am; it was going to be on Thursday/our EDD, but the Dr will be out of the office and we had to reschedule it. Sigh.
Special? Not really, beyond discussing appointments for the post-40-wks period.
3. What are you looking forward to this week?
Hitting 40 weeks. And hopefully going into labour (fingers crossed!!).

I had no idea that the last month of pregnancy was so much longer than all the previous months combined. Jebus.

Yup -- I ended up doing both the 1hr/50mg glucola test and the 3hr/100mg glucola test. I wasn't given a choice, tbh; if I had been, I would've opted for the 2hr/75mg glucola test that the WHO actually uses as the appropriate benchmark.
I did the test mainly to avoid the argument about it with the doctor... and had to take the 3hr because I had pasta for lunch before the 1hr and blew the test by one measly point. Annoying.

We didn't "schedule" them, really; we let them pick when to come out as suited their own schedules. But, then, we don't have space concerns; some of 'em are likely to stay in a hotel anyway, and we have enough room for everyone else. As it turned out, we will end up with about a week between visits, though.

We're Team Green, too, but a large part of that is because we don't want a closet full of gendered clothes!
Most of what we have, though, are definitely colours other than yellow...
We have yellow, green, brown, white, grey, rainbow-stripes, and even some blue and pink stuff. The LO will wear it regardless. 
I do plan on doing a shopping trip after the LO is here (I have 25%-off-your-entire-purchase from Carter's and Osh Kosh coupons), but mainly for larger clothing sizes, since we got enough on our own and via hand-me-downs for NB-6mos for sure!

5 weeks tomorrow. Just sore boobs and occasional fatigue. The lack of symptoms is really making me .......

We won't really have many long distance relatives coming other than immediate family our parents and my sister rom Boston, and neither of us minds I think.

1. What week are you in? Any new aches or pains? 29 weeks. Can't believe I'm already in the 3rd tri...feels like I was just starting 2nd tri a few weeks ago.
2. When is your next appointment? Will anything special happen at that appointment? That's a really good question...I can't remember. Next week, I think? I better go check...
3. What are you looking forward to this week? Going to see PNB's Don Quixote on Friday!
4. Monday confession? I had tons of sweets last week before taking my GD test on Saturday...just in case they told me I had GD and couldn't have them any more. I'm pretty sure that's against the spirit of the test, but ice cream tastes so good right now!

6. Did you do the GD test? Which one? Why (if you thought about it)? ?fyziksgirl I did the 2 hour one bc that's what the Swedish Ballard midwives make everyone take. I hated fasting beforehand, but passed. They claim the 1 hour led to both too many retakes for the 3 hour test and too many undetected cases of GD. I was happy to only have to take it once.
7. Recommend your big diaper bag- I will have 2 in cloth so I'll need something roomier than the one I currently have. ?TacticalTurtleneck I'm torn between practical, stylish, and gender neutral. I'm not sure a single bag exists that meets all 3 criteria so I may get DH his own.

My mom is coming as soon as she can and we'd like her to stay for as long as she wants (or for as much vacation as she has from work -- probably 2 weeks) since she's really helpful. Same with my dad, though he wants to come when the Red Sox are in town playing the M's (about 6ish weeks after my due date). BUT my ILs keep asking when they should come and I have no idea...my MIL stresses me out. She does things without asking that create more work for me later. When our nephew was born, she repeatedly ignored my BIL and SIL and did things her own way over their protests (like putting him to sleep on his stomach as a newborn, feeding him whole grapes as a 10 month old). GAH. I think I will stall for as long as (politely) possible to save up enough energy to both take care of baby and undo all of MIL's "help".

(but I know I won?t be doing anything for a while!) -abrismum I actually plan to use some 2nd hand "boy" clothes for our little girl when she arrives, in addition to some "girl" clothes. Green is my favorite color so I tend to like a lot of the gender neutral clothing, plus I don't mind dressing her in blue, orange, brown, etc, all colors I like better than pale pink. Even if we didn't know, there are TONS of cute options out there that could work either way. You could always get some cute "gendered" hats that would work with more neutral outfits (like pink and yellow flowers, or blue and yellow airplanes) if you prefer a less neutral "look" and either keep receipts or gift to pregnant friends as others suggested after your little one is born.

6. Did you do the GD test? Which one? Why (if you thought about it)? ?fyziksgirl I thought these are mandatory? I did 1 hour, and I believe if you fail that you take the 3 hour. But I passed the first time.

I don't have any local relatives - we recently relocated to Seattle from the east coast (where I'm from) and my husband's family is from overseas. I am hoping my mom is able to visit around the time the baby arrives, and I am hoping my in-laws come later or wait for us to visit them. I would definitely want time between visits to rest.

It's too early for us to be shopping yet, but my cousin was team green with her first, and she did have a lot of neutral colored clothes before the baby was born - you could do yellow, green, brown, cream, grey - things you could pair with blue or pink socks/hat/blanket if you want to add in those colors. If you go this route, maybe you could get just a few each of blue and pink accessories, and return the one later?

1. What week are you in? Any new aches or pains? I'm in week 38, and definitely getting more sore in my hips and lower back. I finally gave in and tried some Zantac though for the heartburn and that has made a huge difference in my sleep at night!
2. When is your next appointment? Will anything special happen at that appointment? Next Appt. is on Thursday, nothing special that I know of.
3. What are you looking forward to this week? Looking forward to having Friday off work this week! I'm going to be in a friends wedding as her bridesmaid and have the rehearsal Friday and Wedding Saturday. (I know, a bridesmaid and 39 weeks pregnant.... I am crazy!)
4. Monday confession? I feel like at this point I am getting pretty useless at work, my mind is totally elswhere! But trying to do my best for the next week and a half before I'm off for 3 months.
8. All our relatives are pretty much local, so we'll be having visitors right away, but luckily nobody is actually staying with us for overnights since they all live close.

7. Recommend your big diaper bag- I will have 2 in cloth so I'll need something roomier than the one I currently have. My SIL uses a timbuk2 messenger bag.
8. When you planned for long distance relatives visiting after baby arrives, are you asking them to come back to back, or giving yourself a week or so of alone time in between visitors (given that everyone wants to come at once, but I don't have the patience/accommodations/desire for that. N/A
9. I?m not going to find out the sex of this baby. Wondering what other mommies are doing to prepare for the baby as far as clothes etc?. I don?t want a closet full of yellow clothes. Are some of you waiting until the baby is born to buy most clothing? I was thinking of saving money and then shopping after the baby was born. (but I know I won?t be doing anything for a while!) ?Have a lot of white onesies on hand. And maybe two pairs of pants for either gender. Any friends you can trust with clothes buying duty after baby arrives?

1. What week are you in? Any new aches or pains? Week 30. Finally over my cold and feeling pretty good! Really need to start getting consistent exercise.
2. When is your next appointment? Will anything special happen at that appointment? Next appointment is in a week. I'll be meeting the newest midwife in the group, otherwise nothing special.
3. What are you looking forward to this week? Getting out all of our baby gear that we have stored at MIL's house.
4. Monday confession? I cannot go to the grocery store by myself without buying myself a treat (cookie, donut, etc) and eating it before I get home and have to share with DH/DS.

No idea, because the midwives I see don't check you. The only time I was checked was when I arrived in labor and was 8cm dilated.

They are coming 3 days after my EDD, so how much alone time we have with the baby will totally depend on when he arrives. Although my parents don't stay with us when they visit so we get a little privacy regardless.

I got a package of shrinky dink plastic and a set of brand-new, juicy sharpies for Christmas and spent several hours making slightly hideous plastic creations while watching a movie last night, and enjoyed every moment.
