What is your LO's HB and do you know if it is a boy or girl? Sorry if this has been posted before. We are having our anatomy scan on Feb 6th and I know that old wives tale ab the heartbeat and I was just wondering how accurate it is.
Ours has mainly been in the 160s, and she is a little girl. But I have also heard of multiple instances on these boards where the OWT has proven false.
The first time we heard LO's heartbeat it was really high, I think close to 170?
According to the old wives' tale that would make him a girl, but he is a boy! Also, at my previous appointment his heartbeat was in the 130s, so it definitely has been fluctuating a lot.
The heartbeat has always been in the high 160s, and we are having a boy, so I don't buy into the OWT.....good luck!

Yup, it's false. The heart rate changes so much based off his/her movement at the time. Our little guy started out at 120 on the doppler, then immediately went to 140. During the ultrasound 30 minutes later, it was 160. Relying on heartbeat as an indicator just isn't wise.

We are having a boy and his HB was 168-172 in the First Trimester, 140-150 during the Second Trimester, and now that I'm starting my third it was 164-168 last time I went to the doctor.
OWT are crap. TRUST ME. I tried every one under the sun and 90% of them said I was having a girl.... the baby's HB was 169 bpm at one appointment and 160bpm at the next... I craved sweets as opposed to salty... the chinese gender chart says girl...
and its a boy! I just had my 25 week appointment and his HB is still high at 150bpm so don't believe anything the old tales say... you'll never know until the anatomy scan! :-)

To the people telling her the owt's are crap and not to believe them, I doubt she's relying on them to know what she's having, lol. I think she's just curious because it's fun to take guesses. To the op, both of my boys heart rates were in the 130's and 140's. This one is always in the 160's so we'll see in a few weeks!

Ours went anywhere from 180-156, and it's a girl... According to the old wives' tale she would've been a girl at 180 and a boy at 156, so you never really know. The HB can change so much depending on whether they're asleep or jumping around.

Re: What's your LO's HB?
My LO's HB was 130 last time we checked. We have our ultrasound tomorrow...
If I remember correctly, DD's tended to be around 160 or 165...
