WOW! I'm going through a lot of what your dd is going through. I was in the hospital for 6 days because of a staph infection with surgery this past Tuesday night. I'm so sorry. This is painful and I cannot imagine for the life of me going through this as a child. I got my drain out today. We won't know if my infection is MRSA until Monday (the doctors are hoping Monday). I'm so sorry for you to watch your daughter through this...my prayers are with you all...
(sorry my thoughts are so scattered--gotta love pain killers).
Re: abinormal...
I'm sorry to hear that you've been struggling with a staph infection. Tegan is amazing and has become my new hero through this whole situation. I know there have been moments where she's been in a lot of pain, but she's managed to still laugh and smile throughout the day. Fortunately, Tegan didn't have to spend time in the hospital, but it hasn't been a picnic at home, lol! She still has a drain and will until next Thursday (the drain doesn't look at all like what I expected, lol!) when we take her back to the surgeon for a follow up. This means that she can't go to daycare or be around other young children. They've also restricted her from riding her bike or doing any "rowdy" play. It sucks, she's definitely not used to being inside all day and she's missing her daycare friends.
Tegan's staph is MRSA and I was pretty freaked out at first, but it didn't really change things too much. Pretty much we all just have to be treated with an antibacterial soap and some antibacterial creme that lines the nose. We've also been doing a lot of disinfecting of the house and laundry (we're supposed to only use washcloths/towels once) and Tegan has to have three baths a day to keep the wound open and to draw out the infection. So, lots of fun, lol! Of course, Tegan is LOVING her three baths a day.
Oh yeah... and pain killers are pretty awesome, lol! I can't imagine this process if we hadn't had Tegan's Tylenol 3 w/codeine to help take the edge off of her discomfort. Take it easy and I'll keep you in my thoughts. Hopefully, you'll be on the mend and on your way home soon!
