I thought this day would never get here, but it finally came and I feel hopeful once again. My RE came in and basically said that the outcome of my first IVF cycle was not what they had expected. I had my questions ready, but did not feel the need to ask them since he answer them all in what he told us.
The plan is that next cycle we will do a double dose of the HCG trigger and change the Bravelle to the most synthetic form of the hormone. However, I don't remember what it was called, all I know is it started with an R. He aslo said that the eggs in the follicles maybe "sticky" and it stuck more to the base/wall and the needle during retrevial was not able to reach them, so they are going to flush each follicle out with sterile water during retrieval. The RE then brought up the fact that they could not retrieve from my left ovary. He reviewed my u/s from my monitoring appointments with us. When looking at the u/s he said you should see the ovary before the uterus (like my right), but my left showed the unterus and then the ovary. For the next cycle he wants me to do an enema because by emptying the bowels there will be less pressure placed on the reproductive organs. Also, he agrees that by trying to lose more weight it can aid in the cooperation of my left ovary.
I am to call in May and let them know that I ready to cycle with the anticipation that I have lost at least 7 pounds (shooting for at least 10), totally doable. The only part I didn't like hearing was that my left ovary maybe attached to the back of my uterus by scar tissue. He said if the enema, weightloss, and the couple of pushing techniques to manipulate the ovary during retrieval do not work this cycle then it will give us a more clear answer of whether it is attached and needs to be remedied. I left the appointment hopeful and I cannot wait for May to get here.
