How would you spend it? Pretend you had $500 for each scenario below. It is rainy and yucky here and I am once again slammed at work, but I wanted to contribute some entertainment for the day.
1. for yourself
2. on your H/SO
3. for your kid(s)
4. for your home
5. for charity
Re: Non-Clicky Survey: If you had $500 to spend....
1. I need haircut/color, bikini wax, mani/pedi and new makeup. I also need a pair of black flats for work.
2. I would get him a new laptop (nothing too fancy but his is on its last legs)
3. I would get her a radio flyer wagon and pimp it out big time. Our friends did this for their daughter and it is awesome. It has flames down the sides, rims on huge big tires, a place to attach a sun shade, etc.
4. we need to finish a repair on our soffit (sp?). My car also needs the 30K checkup (I am lumping that under this category)
5. I really want to donate to The Smile Train- so half would go to them because that is the amount to cover one surgery for a child. The other half I would donate to The Humane Society- I used to be a monthly donor (to them and to the ASPCA- damn you Sarah McLachlan!) and had to stop because our budget was too tight.
1. Cut & color my hair, pedicure, massage and some new jeans!
2. He needs a new hunting rifle. $500 wouldn't cover it, but it would be an excellent start. (boys toys, oy)
3. OMG I'd go wild with some clothes and shoes for the summer. Also a sweet electric car for them to tool around in, even though we don't have the room to store it and it would cause chaos with the neighbor kids.
4. I'd put it towards a new couch right now, ours is sh!t-tastic.
5. Make-a-wish!
1. I need a pedicure bad and I would get a facial but I'm sure all these hormones would just make me look like a teenage boy again within a day or 2. I need a haircut too. After the pedi and haircut I would probably put the rest away for after I have the baby and want to feel human again. Oh, I need a new bathing suit too.
2. I would honestly just hand him the cash. I gave up buying things for him years ago because he usually just goes and buys what he wants anyways or I get the wrong thing. I would get him an iphone but he's leaving in a month and a half and wont be able to take it with him so there's really no point.
3. I would get an ergo for this new one (I guess that's more for me) and get E some more age appropriate toys. I really think she would enjoy a wagon too.
4. My car needs new tires and if there was some left over then I would get some random things that we still need like curtain rods since ours are to short for this new place.
5. Children's Miracle Network or Make A Wish.
1. for yourself - I'd buy my entire Amazon wish list (which is just some CDs and movies) and then get some NICE new maternity clothes. Mine are all wintery, so they will be useless here pretty soon.
2. on your H/SO - It's nothing fun, but we'd buy his new dress uniform. The Army doesn't require it until 2014, but his unit can make him buy it sooner if they feel like it. It's about $250 plus alterations, patches, etc. I'd spend the rest on getting him new/additional uniform items... under shirts, PT clothes, etc. He only has 3 sets of everything yet works 5 days a week. This make laundry more difficult than it needs to be.
3. for your kid(s) - I'd buy DD a couple toys and spend the rest on furniture for the new baby. We need another crib/mattress, a dresser, and storage cubicles.
4. for your home - We don't own this place, so it's definitely not going to home improvement. We already have money put away to buy a washer and dryer soon, so on top of that... I'd buy a gas grill since it's already in the 70s here some days. Then I'd put away the rest to eventually buy a new couch. Ours are from Ikea and while they get the job done, they're not exactly long term furniture pieces,
5. for charity - Komen for the Cure (breast cancer)
1. I would buy myself a Kindle Fire and spend the rest on clothes. I have been wearing the same stuff for years and some of it is getting ratty looking.
2. Some type of golf membership or pre-pay greens fees. He likes to golf with older DS and this would be fun for them.
3. I would probably split it - older DS has about out-grown all of his clothes and for LO I would get him some summer toys and some type of outside toy
4. A new bed- our bed frame sucks- it is cheaply made - the rest of the furniture if fine and we have a good mattress - just need a new bed
5. I am split between UNC Children's Hospital & Ronald McDonald House - both groups have done so much for my nephew & family. When nephew had surgery at Sloan-Kettering the Ronald McDonald house there was phenomenal in the way they treated the families. And I can't say enough good stuff about the treatment that he received at UNC Children's Hospital.
1. for yourself- I could always go for some new makeup, new clothes and a massage!
2. on your H/SO- Ticket to the Michigan vs. Alabama game at Cowboy stadium
3. for your kid(s)- Swing set for upcoming spring/summer.
4. for your home- Carpet for the living room and spare room. I'm sick of this hard wood.
5. for charity- Split between American Cancer Society and Make-a-wish.
