We're planning on cloth diapering. I ordered both a BumGenius and a Fuzzibunz diaper to check out, but I really can't tell the difference between which would be better. Do you have a preference between these two? What pros/cons have you noticed with them? Should I just get some of each? Thanks!
Re: BumGenius vs Fuzzibunz
If cost is equal, ad they both work equally well, I don't see why you couldn't have a mix.
We have FB OS diapers (some people love them, some hate them) and some BG4.0s, and both work well with DD.
You won't really know which works best for you until you have them on your baby.
If you baby has a very straight up and down body, BG often work better. Their snaps are ontop of each other.
If you baby is curvier (has a bigger bottom, tiny waist) FB often works better because their snaps are staggered to have more fit/size options.
A lot of people find that Fuzzibunz one-size leak a lot because they have so many size adjustment options (leg elastic, waist elastic, waist snaps) and it's hard to get a perfect fit sometimes.
Fuzzibunz fit my son like a dream, BumGenius do not fit at all and leak like crazy.
I wasn't a fan of all the elastic sticking out, the laminate didn't seem to hold up as well, and the lining started off soft but got pilly really quickly. I only use FB if I have no other choice...but we also have a long thin baby, so smartipants and BG have worked better.
I second having some options in your stash though, and just buying more of what works for you later
Try both and see which you prefer for your LO.
FWIW, I had both initially and hated FB. They constantly leaked, both the sized and OS, no matter how I adjusted them for DD. The sized fit slightly better, but would still leak. I love BGs and they make up a large portion of my pocket (4.0s) and AIO (Elementals) stash. They fit DD very well, don't leak, and are easier to stuff (compared to FB IMO).
