What are peoples thoughts on the name Brooklynn for a girl? Keep going back and forth with it....thinking of the middle name being Taylor.

I don't find it pretty or feminine.  The only people I know who have ever used it are very trashy so I always associate it with someone like that. Overall, i say it's yukky. I don't mind Brooke though.

I live in Brooklyn.  I absolutely love it here but wouldn't name a kid after it.

I don't hate it, but it's not for me.

It's a normal, perfectly acceptable name IMO.

It's not any different than other place names to me (London, Austin, Dakota, Cheyenne etc.)

I have a niece named Brooklyn. I think it's alright. We all call her Brooke most of the time. It also turns me off as a baby name because I have a friend who named her cat Brooklyn, so it makes me think of the city or cats.

I really like the name. It reminds me of a little girl before I would ever think of the city (I'm from Ohio), and I think if Austin is a usable name for a boy, then there isnt any reason Brooklynn cant be used. And I dont think its trashy. If you like it, use it. No one IRL will ever think anything of it.

My neice is Brooklyn, so I guess I have gotten used to it.  However, I do prefer Brooke.

(BTW, my neice is Brooklyn Elizabeth and I love that mn with it.)

I don't know where everyone is from but I love the name Brooklyn.  It is not trashy at all.  I also love the city and think that the name is trendy and cute.  I only think of an adorable athletic little girl when I think of this name.  FWIW, I hate the names Brooke and Lynn (old grandmother names).

I know I am the odd one out on this board but I really dont mind it. One of my friends daughters name is Brooklyn (mind you, I hate it when its spelled wrong). There was another person that I know that kind of used it. She named her daughter Brooke Lynn (first and middle).

Wow, I didn't think this name would be disliked so much!  I like the name a lot, it would be our second choice for a girls name.  I have never been to brooklyn, nor do I plan to in the future.  For me I love the name Brooke and a name in our family that has been passed through generations is Lynn, So I thought Brooklynn would be cute. So go for it, I like the name and don't think everyone would directly associate it with the city.

Just saying...Do you really think people are going to tell you to your face that they don't like the name you chose for your child? My SIL and a friend of DH's both just had babies and I find their childrens names terrible, but I'm not going to tell them that. In fact, I find that most people will lie to your face instead of saying nothing.

Ick.  Not only is it not a pretty name, but it's beaten to DEATH.  I just read in the paper that it was the top girl name at our local hospital.

Right??  I know for a fact some people aren't into DS's name (Anderson) but obviously they aren't going to tell me that.  That doesn't make me think "oh, everyone LOVES IT!"  lol.
