TMI Menstrual Question

Ok, so it's pretty TMI, but we're all ladies here.  How was your flow after having your kids?  After Emma, my first period cramps literally felt like labor pains, but the flow was normal.  The first one after Abby wasn't bad at all (I was prepared for reliving the nightmare).  I just finished the second one and OMG.  I was up 3 times to change the "overnight" pad that first night.  It wasn't abnormally long, and was slightly lighter after the first 48 hours, but I was seriously wondering about calling the doc if it didn't let up.  Almost pulled out the "diapers" they gave me at Northside after I had her.  Am I the only one?

  • HORRIFIC!  I've had 3 now, the first and second ones I thought I was going to die with how bad the pain was and how much blood there was.  The third one the cramps were much less, but the flow is still INSANE.  But mine is like that for like 4 days.  so so so bad.  I remember this from the last two and I think it got better after a while.

So maybe its not the paraguard doing this to me?  Because I've been blaming the paraguard.  Also?  REALLY not having a third now.

  • My cycles are now much heavier the first day or two...but then shorter.

  • My periods are seriously effed up now that I've had my boys. After Ethan, it took a while, but things pretty much got back to normal.  After Jack, I've never gotten back to normal and he's 3 now.  My periods are much heavier and the pain is much worse.  I also have bad pain for a few hours when I'm ovulating.  I am also on iron supplements because I'm anemic.  I talked to my gyn about this (same doctor that delivered Jack) and he told me that unfortunately this is my "new normal" and something I'll have to live with.  It sucks so much, though.  His only suggestion has been for me to go on Mirena, but I have never been able to tolerate birth control so I really am not interested in getting on it.

  • Def. heavier flow at first, horrible cramps, etc.  It seems to have tapered off a bit, but the cramps are still awful.  The weirdest thing is that ovulating hurts like hell now, too.  WTF?

  • I'm glad to know it isn't me!  Things pretty much went back to normal after the first period after Emma.  Hoping this one does too.  From the sounds of it though, it may or may not!

YES! What the hell is up with the ovulation pain? I didn't have this until after the second kiddo, thank goodness. I can even tell what side it's on and it's like a bending-over-in-agony-for-a-few-minutes. The bonus is I know exactly when not to have sex, but still I was not prepared for the pain.

The first few were awful with both boys with horrible cramps and really heavy flow. It seems that the cramps and the flow are starting to ease up again but still worse than pre-kids.

  • The first few were pretty bad. I'm about 6 mos in and they are still heavier than Pre- baby but not so crampy. I also have ovulation cramps now too which is so weird!

  • omg, I have that awful ovulation cramping too, but I figured it was from the tubal ligation, like the egg is trying really really hard to get through.  hmmm, maybe not.

  • I still haven't really had one. E is 15 months old, and I have had *very* light spotting twice in the last 2 months, but seriously it was so light I didn't even need a panty liner. I just noticed it on the TP when I wiped. However, I do have a Mirena IUD and it is supposed to decrease your periods. So I have no idea if this is due to the Mirena, or if my body just hasn't gotten back on track yet.  After reading y'all's responses I think I am glad!

  • I used to make fun of my friend that had to be on bed rest for two days and her husband always bought her flowers (what a guy) when she started and that was per babies! I am now the one that can barely function they are so bad. I have had three c-sections and I have a lot of adhesions that is why I have terrible pain when I ovulate and start! The first two days I am hemorrhaging then it almost goes away and then right when I am ovulating a get the spotting! Now this I have contributed to the tubal. I really want to have the elblation (sp) done, but I am holding out a little while longer.
