What would you do? I'm at a loss as to what makes most sense for us regarding strollers for our trip:
We're heading down to Disney at the end of the month as a side trip from my parents house an hour away. We'll go to the hotel on Monday, go to downtown Disney and just hang out. We'll hit MK on Tuesday with both Claire and Evan. My parents will join us so they can see Claire's reaction and then they will head out of the park after a couple hours. They will then take Evan home with them. We'll spend Wednesday at Disney with Claire only and then drive back to my parents house on Thursday.
I have the City-Mini Double that we can take with us down to Florida. We also have an old beater stroller my mom picked up for Claire to use when we were down there last November.
So, should I take the double down to FL for the day and a half the kids will be at Disney together, and for the airport and walks during our week there? Skip taking a stroller and just the beater stroller already down there and rent another when we're at Disney? Or take the double stroller down and take that and the single to DW and then have my parents take the double home with them when they leave leaving us with the beater stroller? Or just rent at DW, leaving us with only a single to use the rest of the week? (I could carry Evan for short times out or Claire could walk.)
If you've managed to get through this mess that I just wrote, thanks!
Re: Disney & stroller question
I'd be reluctant to take a "nice" stroller on a plane trip unless you have one of those protection bags. Ours get beat to heck. We rented when Justin was just under 6 months and the stroller was great to steer but was very uncomfortable for him- like he wouldn't nap in that, if it's something you need to consider.
My opinion after my rambling- bring the beater stroller and a carrier for E. Let C walk as much as possible (she'll be so excited she may not want to sit in there) and then let E sit in the beater if she's not.
I would take the double. Belle slept in her stroller every day and I loved having our own. It can be crazy trying to find your own stroller let alone a disney one that looks like all the others when you come off of an attraction. Friends of ours were telling us this past weekend they paid $85 to rent a Disney stroller for 5 days and that was about 4 or 5 years ago. Plus the Disney ones have next to no storage for things.
Letting Belle walk as much as possible was not an option for us. It was busy when we were there in October and there is no way I would let her walk in some of those crowds. She's so little all it would take is for her to see something and she would have been gone in those crowds. Waiting in some of the lines was enough for her that she wanted back in the stroller once off the attraction.
She'll turn three when we go again and we will have our own stroller.
I would take the double. It was nice to contain both kids through security and the airport. DH had the baby bjorn and wore sophia when we walked on the plane since we had to leave the stroller at gate check. We were without our stroller when we landed in DR b/c they didn't give it back to us. For those 20 minutes it was hell. We had to wait for it to come off of the baggage claim.
My kids are able to sleep wherever and both fell asleep at different points in the stroller at the airport. So I would use the double for the day you are all at Disney and then swap out strollers with your parents.
