**SSG**

Do you use any products on Ella's curls?  I ask because DD's hair seems to be very similar to Ella's (although she doesn't have as much hair yet, so we'll see).  Her ringlets are adorable and perfect when she gets out of the shower and they air dry.  However by the time she wakes up in the morning half of the curls are flattened and others are frizzy.  I end up re-wetting her hair in the morning to get the curls back into shape.

Any words of wisdom?

Peanut's hair isn't as thick as Ella's, but we have the gone flat+frizzy issue in the morning, too. We bought a couple spritzer bottles from the $1 travel section at Target, and a little misting with warm water usually does the trick. We don't have to get it all the way wet, just slightly damp, comb through, and tousle to get the curls back. All that said, we do put a curl activator on her hair after she has a bath (it detangles without straightening her hair like heavy conditioners do), and sometimes we use it in the AM as well. It's a Curls brand product we got at Target-- I did a quick search and I think it *might* be this one. They've changed the packaging since we bought it so I'm not quite sure.

  • Why yes my child has product...how embarrassing but if you had to deal with E's head of hair you would understand (perhaps you will soon).  Anyway E's hair is very thick, very fine, and very curly.  When wet it is in the middle of her back.We have found that you need to attack it in a couple of ways.  We use a shampoo and leave in conditioner called beautiful curlz that we get at whole foods. We don't wash her hair every night and when we do we us lots of the conditioner.  I have also had good luck with the Johnsons and Johnsons for thick and curly hair (blue bottle).  In the am we use detangler spray (I like the Johnsons and Johnsons in the green bottle best but we can't always find it.  I think it is the most moisturizing.)  We spray and then brush with special brush called a knot genie.  This brush rocks and gets all her tangles out and does not rip her hair out or break the hair at the knots.  We never brush or comb her hair dry.  I then follow with some of the leave in conditioner or some moroccan oil products that I use.  I have to do this after naps or if we go out in the middle of the day.  Hats are bain of my existence right now.   Thankfully it has been a mild winter so far. I love her hair but I hate taking care of it.  Also I dread when she wants it to be straight.  Thankfully we live in a community with lots of curly headed children so she will not be the only one with crazy hair in school.   I think the donor may have been part poodle (just kidding)
