I'm asking for a friend who is intrested in a VBAC. Does anyone have a reccomendation on a Dr, midwife, or possibly a birthing center that they had a good experience with?
There are two physicians with The Women's Specialists of Houston that do them. I want to say that it's Dr. Ortique and Dr. Dryden that will do them... Though its tough to get in with Dryden.
I had a vbac with Dr Hector Del Castillo at Memorial Herman in the Med Center and I would recommend him. His biggest downside is that his backups are not completely on the same page, so if he's taking a vacation anywhere around the due date I wouldn't risk it (well, actually I did risk it, but he came back on call in the nick of time).
Dr. Milner as well... I second going to the local ICAN. I also have a packet I offer mamas that gives a list of doctors who have been known to offer VBAC as an option, along with tips on how to ensure the best odds of achieving a VBAC, and interview questions to help moms know if the care provider is truly as VBAc friendly as mom wants.
Feel free to pm me if you would like me to forward that to you for your friend.
I am a Baylor College of Medicine
Maternal Fetal Medicine specialist and the Chief of the Obstetrics
and Gynecology Service at Ben Taub General Hospital in the Houston,
Texas Medical Center. Ben Taub is a very VBAC friendly hospital with
24/7 coverage provided by Baylor College of Medicine physicians in
both Ob/Gyn and Ob Anesthesia. I am very supportive of VBAC and we
welcome anyone anytime at Ben Taub! If you would like to contact me
you can email me at cmdavids@bcm.edu. Christina Davidson, MD
Hi, I have been looking for a VBAC friendly practice and stumbled upon this thread. If you, or anyone on here who has received the packet of VBAC info, I would greatly, greatly appreciate it if you could share it with me. Thank you!

The only other successful vbacs I've heard of were with Dr Juan Franco at St Josephs and with either Dr Lee or Heiman at Willowbrook Methodist https://www.methodisthealth.com/mwh.cfm?id=40051
If she's never had a vbac before, a birthing center is not going to touch her. There are midwifes who will do vbacs for home births.
I strongly recommend she join the local ICAN group for advice and more recommendations.
