Any tips on 2nd hand maternity clothes?

I seem to have developed a bump overnight (which I'm calling all "baby bump" even though I'm preeeeeetty sure it's a bit of "baby + thanksgiving + christmas." Heh.) and I'm probably not going to last in my regular clothes too much longer.

I'm interested in getting maternity clothes for as cheap as possible. Any tips?

  • I have found some on the clearance rack at both Kohls and Target. Target I got a shirt for $10 and Kohls I got a pair of pants for $8.

  • I feel like consignment shops can be over priced for maternity clothes.  If you have the time to go to garage sales that may be your best bet.  They are usually fairly gently used since you only use them for a few months and you can get them dirt cheap!

  • my friend got some nice maternity clothes (used) from Craigslist...might be worth a try
  • If you have a Ross...run, don't walk, there. I got a pair of mat pants for $7 and two tops for $12 each. All of the items were stylish and professional for work.

  • I've gotten some great stuff out of the clearance at ON, Kohls, and Target. Found a few good pants at Goodwill. And found some decent things at a children's consignment sale, believe it or not. Check out CL and even eBay for things also.

  • I got a majority of my maternity clothing from garage sales. But, then again, I was pregnant during summer which seems to be more "garage sale season". I would try Craigs List or Ebay.

  • I got my maternity clothes at a local consignment shop.  Mostly Motherhood Maternity stuff that looked barely worn.  And it was a half off sale!  I love a bargain, and they're out there.

  • Goodwill, Goodwill, Goodwill! I would stay away from online shopping until (just like non-maternity clothes) you at least know what size/brand fits you best.

If you are "out" you could post on Facebook to see if any friends have clothes they would give/lend you.

  • My SIL and I exchange maternity clothes.  When she was pregnant she started a stash and handed it off to me when I was pregnant with DD, then I added more pieces to it.  Then, my friend got pregnant and I let her borrow our stash and she added more pieces to it and when I got pregnant again she rotated it back to me.  The only thing we haven't exchanged is pants as we're all in different sizes, but the shirts have worked for all of us.  We'll keep rotating it until we're all done making babies and then we'll donate the pieces in good condition to the Salvation Army.

  • We have a place in town that sells used maternity clothes.  I got some really nice stuff anywhere from $1-$5 a top.  I have a few news things too...but I just don't see the point in spending tons of money on maternity clothes that you are only going to wear for a few months.

  • We have a consignment shop around here that's super affordable & sells maternity clothes. My advice would be to try to find one in your area. If you know any other ladies who have been pregnant in the past, you should ask them! GL!

  • I went to goodwill a few weeks ago and half the maternity clothes there were from target with the tags still on them.  Can't beat $4 for a pair of brnad new pants with tags!
