i know it's only day 2 of being back to work, but i've pumped twice today and only got 3 oz total and cannot seem to trigger a letdown. i feel myself getting full (and fingers crossed, i won't leak!), and i'm trying to drink water and watch videos of my kiddo on my phone (letdown p0rn???).
i've pumped successfully at home since the beginning, but this office environment where i can hear co-workers outside the door as they pass by is just not doing it. any and all tips are very much welcome and appreciated!
Re: Working moms: Give me some tips
I don't work in an office, but I did pump at least once a day for 14 months, so I have some experience
.
I didn't have this issue in the beginning, but the older he got, the harder it was for me to get a letdown on the pump, and totally impossible to get more than one.
Can you try putting on some headphones and listening to something really relaxing (or maybe his noises that you record on your phone while you're nursing him), put your feet up and just really try to take yourself to the place that you nurse him most frequently at home?
I had to close my eyes, take deep breaths, imagine the whole routine--unhooking my bra, getting him on, the smells, the touches, the mental image of my milk letting down....it was a lot of mental work! And then once my milk let down, I could go back to reading my iPhone.
Good luck!
