Early Gender Reveal Question

We went to our MFM to have a 16 week growth scan done on our mono/di twins on Wednesday.  The tech did about an hour worth of scans and pictures and then told us if we wanted to know what they thought the babies were the doctor would come in and tell us.  When the doctor came in, he went over everything (said it all looked great) and told us that based on one pic of one baby he is 95% sure they are boys. The tech couldn't get any pictures of the second baby's 'area' because the babies were moving all over the place! He did tell us not to go out and buy all blue, or do any painting but that he was pretty sure they would show up clearer as boys at our 18 week and 20 week scans.  I just wondered if anyone else had been told they were having boys earlier then 20 weeks, only later to find out they were told wrong?  It doesn't make any real difference to us, we are happy either way I am just curious.  Thanks!

We are team green (and were both times in the past), but they told us yesterday at 14w2d that they might be able to know already, especially if they are boys. I was surprised they would be able to tell so early.

I mentioned this to my friend and she found out at 16 weeks that she was having a boy.

At 13 weeks, during our NT scan, the tech. showed us our babies and they looked completely different from each other. She said it is tricky until they get around 18-20 weeks but she said it was very obvious our's were not the same sex unless one of them has some drastic changes along the way. We will not find out until 19 weeks though for sure. Good luck!

I had a cervical check at 16w and the tech offered to take a peek for us to see if we could tell the gender. Baby A was clear as day a little boy.  Baby B wouldn't show very well but the tech was fairly sure it was a girl. It was confirmed B/G at the 18w anatomy scan.   I've heard of people being told they were having a girl and it turned out to be a boy, but I think it's pretty rare for it to go the other way.

We got told at 15 weeks that the doctor was "pretty sure" they were girls, but not to buy a lot of pink yet. He got a real good look at baby A and baby B was not cooperative, but what he saw on A "was very suspiciously girl-like."  And of course, with mono/di, they are the same sex.  At our anatomy scan at 18 weeks, it was pretty clear they were girls and the sonographer said she was very sure and got a good look at both.

At 12 weeks, the MD told us that she thought our babies were B/G, which was confirmed at 16, 20, and 24 weeks.

We were very surprised to find out yesterday at my NT screening.  I'm only 12 weeks.  But I guess you can tell early on when it's a boy, especially if they are in a good position.  The specialist performing the U/S said she's 85% sure.  But it was pretty obvious to us.  By the way, she could tell that they are both boys.  Before we go out & buy gender-specific items, we're going to wait for the OB's confirmation at 18-20 wks., unless it's real obvious at my next appointment @ 16 weeks.

We were told at 18w that both of the babies were boys and had it confirmed at multiple u/s after that point. But I just wanted to pop in and say that it is possible to be told boy and have it be a girl... my doula said that what happens is that the labia can be swollen so it is larger and can look like male genitalia. But at 16w I would think you're close enough to be pretty sure they're boys. When you go in for your next u/s, because being high risk you'll have a few, just ask to see again. Like I said we were told at our a/s at 18 w, and then I asked at each u/s after that point as well just to make sure because although I didn't care they were boys, I didn't want to start buying pink only to find out later on the scan was wrong.

We tried at 15 weeksbut they had their cords between their legs. We had another at 16 weeks and found out we were having girls. We were also Mo/Di and only 1 of my 2 would show their business but confidently said that they were both girls.

At my NT scan they predicted boys, and at my next u/s they said boys as well so we told everyone. Then at our 20 week gender scan, surprise, surprise, two girls! H wanted girls so he was thrilled, but my FIL was bummed.

Oh my gosh this made me laugh because I'm going to fall off the table if we are in fact having two girls instead of two boys.  We told everyone they are boys! :)

Thanks for all the info ladies!

We didn't find out until 22 weeks, and with them being ID, they only needed to see one.  They said prior to that, that they thought they were girls but don't buy pink.  I was also pretty sure they were girls.  I have heard of a lot of moms saying they knew by 16 or 18 weeks.  It also seems like boys are easier to tell....but who knows.
