Anyone want to recommend an Oncoloist/Hemotologist?

I have seen Dr. Aung at Texas Oncology and while he is nice he never really got the answers I need and was recommended today to go see someone else. So any recommendations?

  • DH has started seeing Jane Chawla

She's new.. at the location on Mopac near Far West.  I liked her a lot-- she seems very knowledgeable and what she didn't know she called someone found out and got back to us (that was on a specific question about whether his new hematology issue was related to our infertility-- not something I'd expect her to know off hand).

She is pregnant though so might have maternity leave issues.  But I liked that she was around our age-- means she'll be in practice for awhile I think we're going to have a long term relationship with a hematologist.

  • I see Dr. Hellerstedt at Texas Oncology and she has always been very helpful. I have a relatively rare blood disorder (as does my Aunt). My Aunt spent years trying to figure out what was going on and visited many hematologists. Dr. Hellerstedt was the only one that narrowed in on what it was.

  • No personal experience but I have several pts who see Dr. Chada and Dr. Chawla and they both seem to be very good and well liked by patients.

  • I work for the facility listed above. Do you have a location preference? I know the south physicians. Email me if you like.

  • Oh and don't hesitate to transfer to another physician in the same office- you need a dr that is a fit for you....it's not personal. I know the south physicians didn't mind.

  • When I was pregnant, I saw Dr. Wright at Texas Oncology South.  I loved her.

A friend of mine who had breast cancer sees Dr. Kampe at the same location and loves him as well.

    Good luck!

  • Unfortunately I need someone in the north location. If (and at this point it's a big big big IF) I get to have another baby I will be dealing with weekly blood transfusions and iron infusions, so driving south 2 times a week for 2 trimesters doesn't sound ideal. :-) I will definitely be looking into all these drs and I appreciate it.

    KB-I will send you a message. ;-)

  • I saw Dr. P a t t when I was pregnant at Texas Oncology off Far West. I had some late in pregnancy blood issues - she was awesome. Squeezed me in, did extra letters for me for the hospital since things came down to the wire and she was afraid they wouldn't get my file information before I had the baby so she wanted me to have something to carry, etc. Really liked her.
