Teething and the side effects

I am curious as to what some of your LO's are going through at night with teething. My LO seems to be waking up every couple of hours and crying/whimpering. I have had to give him a few ounces of Formula here and there to soothe him back to sleep but hope its not going to be a new thing. What do you do when you LO is waking up due to teething fussiness?

Re: Teething and the side effects

  • I usually just lurk on this board, but we're going through the same thing so I thought I'd respond.  DS is waking every two hours now, almost like clockwork.  Sometimes he wakes up before the two hour mark in the beginning.  At that point I can usually just pick him up and rub his back/sway with him to soothe him.  If it's later in the night, then I always have to BF him.  Always.  He used to sleep 6-7 hour stretches before waking for snacks, but now he will not go back down unless he eats.  Sometimes it is for 3 minutes, sometimes 10-15.  He also seems to be peeing a lot more, and the smell of his urine is much stronger.  I used to only change him once a night and now sometimes I have to change him twice.  Last night he soaked his pj's.  :-(

Teething blows.  Hope your LO's chompers (and mine) break through soon!

  • Good to know we are not alone. I actually called pedi. today and they want to see him just to make sure its not his ears. I think it is the teeth but probably safer not to overlook anything. Interesting about the urine, not that you mention it, he seems soaked even more than usual. I will have to mention to pedi. today.  Good luck!
