The IL's wonderful surprise (NBR)

My dad is not one for holiday cheer. Never has been. It has been especially hard since his is the full time care giver to my mom who has severe Alzheimer's. 

Last night I went to my dad's house for dinner and all of a sudden we see people walking down the driveway with candles. We went outside and there was DH (he said he was too busy working to come to dinner) and his family singing Christmas Carols. My dad was blown away-one, because he never feels thought of in the first place, and two, he doesn't usually feel welcomed by DH's family.

Every year DH's family chooses a family in need of a holiday pick-me-up and MIL wanted to come sing for my mom and dad. It was truly an amazing surprise and was really nice to see how happy my dad was. My mom was even enjoying it. 

Makes me think twice about complaining about the ILs!

I don't know if its the hormones, but this totally made me tear. That is SO sweet! Glad he is feeling loved this year!
