Work Out Video Recomendations

So we bought a TV!  I feel like I've rejoined the 21st century.  :)  I've been wanting to start working out, but have had a hard time finding time/ energy.  I've decided that Kate's nap/ quiet time will work now that we have a TV.  (I was trying to make time to go running or something.)  I've also been losing weight (I'm down 17 pounds) so I'm motivated and I have more energy.

I'm looking for some kind of work out video- bonus points if it's on netflix watch instant, but I can probably convince DH to hook up our old DVD player.

The TV is in our bedroom so I don't have a huge amount of space to work with, but I think it will be fine as long as I'm not trying to turn cartwheels or something.  I'm in terrible shape so something that starts you off easy would be best.  I also have a jacked up ankle, so lower impact would be best, but I'm not sure how to find a lower impact workout that doesn't involve a pool or exercise equipment neither of which is an option at present.

Re: Work Out Video Recomendations

  • I really like the Leslie Sansone walking videos. They are low impact, but still get me to work up a bit of a sweat and keep me moving. She is slightly annoying, but keeps you motivated.

  • I swear by anything Bob Harper, but I found that this was a great workout to ease me back into things after Luke was born.  I liked it because it demonstrated three different levels of difficulty depending on your ability.  As you get stronger you can pick a different person to follow. Also it let's you build your workout at the start menu from three or four different 15ish minute segments.  Again, adding on as you get stronger.

This was also a nice compliment to that DVD.  It also has the different levels of difficulty that you can follow along with the workout building feature.

Way to go on the weight loss (especially during the holidays!) and keep up the good work!!

Ditto!  This is exactly what I was going to suggest.

I LOVE her.  She's just this sweet woman, she's so cheerful and optimistic the whole time.  I can totally see how you'd call her annoying but she just keeps me smiling the whole time.  Sometimes, I completely fall for the cheese  :)

  • I highly recommend the Core Fusion DVD's. I especially like Body Sculpt and Lean & Toned. There are 5 10-minute segments, so you can break it down if you only have 30 minutes.

There are modifications for easier/harder workouts. All you need are some really light hand weights-- like 1-2 lbs. I've also used bottles of water! You don't need much space at all. In fact, a friend and I both did the DVD in a little bitty NYC hotel room.

I get an AMAZING workout every single time, and I'm seeing great results firming everything up!

  • I love this New You Coming video. I found it online, because it got some award in Fitness magazine. It's a step video, but I just use my daughters' step stool!
  • I've just started easing my way into yoga, and am really liking Esther Eckhart: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H3vLZqPZxZE

and Yoga Works on Hulu here: https://www.hulu.com/yoga-works

I prefer the Yoga Works videos but the commercial breaks make me crazy.
