Pack and Play Question

Babies R Us has not had our pack and play in stock for the last few weeks and they are the only ones who sell the pattern.  I'm starting to get nervous that it won't be back in stock in time for baby so I've started looking at different ones.  Since it will be sitting out, I'm trying to make it coordinate with the decor at our house.

The new one I have picked out does not have have a changing table attachment (but is $100 cheaper Smile).  Experienced moms, is the changing table on the pack and play as essential as part of my brain is telling me it is? Is there a good alternative to changing baby on a regular basis downstairs away from his changing table?

Re: Pack and Play Question

  • I have heard from some moms that it's really helpful and they wouldn't want to live without it, and other moms that say they are a waste of money and all you need is the PnP with a bassinet.

It'll be interesting to see what Jan moms say!

  • I'm a FTM but from watching my 2 godsons, I personally like the PnP That has the changing table on it. Just my opinion.
  • It's a nice feature but if you have the bassinet portion you could just use that.

  • The changing table is a must for me...we used it up until this summer with my DD. It is just really great having another area on our main living floor that we can change the baby and store diapers etc.

  • We used the diaper station a lot with DD1 and will again this time around too. But it's really up to you. You can just keep a changing pad downstairs and change baby on the floor or wherever. I personally like the changing station because it's a comfortable height, rather than kneeling on the floor or using the couch.

  • I have one with the changing table and I don't think I'd change it.  That said, it's the only changing table we have.  We don't have a traditional one upstairs.  With DD, I changed her either on a pad on the floor or in the changing table part of the PnP.

  • I don't have a changing table OR bassinet option with mine, it's just the regular play pen type square with no special attachments.  Granted I don't use mine except for travel or when other babies come here, so it's not up all the time, but I've been fine without it.  If you want to change your baby somewhere other then the change table in the baby room, have a basket of supplies on the floor in that area and use the floor or the couch.  Honestly, if you are saving $100 then I would go without it!

this, especially since you can put down one of those neat changing pads and it's an instant changing table
