I am a FTM and DH and I plan on putting LO to sleep in her crib right away instead of purchasing a bassinet. We live in an apartment and the nursery is directly across from our room. Not sure that we have room for a bassinet nor do I want to spend a ton of money for something she won't be in long. I saw the FP Rock N Play sleeper and it seems like a good alternative to a bassinet should we feel the need to have LO sleep in our room in the beginning. Has anyone else use this sleeper? Pros? Cons? Advice appreciated.
Thanks!
Re: FP Rock n Play Sleeper as Bassinet Alternative?
This is the best thing we ever bought for DS, he adored it. Slept 8 hours a night from the time we got it at 5 weeks old, I wish we had had it sooner. You'll find the same when asking other moms-- it's very, very popular. It was also useful when we went to friend's houses or my parent's-- he could nap anywhere, or we'd put him in it while we ate dinner and he LOVED it. It has amazing reviews on Amazon, I know.
I'd buy it again in a heartbeat. We plan to use it with this baby too.
I thought that I'd have my son sleeping in a crib from day one....he showed me otherwise.
We also had a bassinet and he hated that; he refused to sleep anywhere other than on top of me and in the Rock n Play. Since it's at an angle and cradles them a little it makes them feel cozier. I loved it, and would definitely recommend it!
I know some folks have complained about their children getting flat head from it, but flat head can occur to babies in cribs, swings, and any surface really. Just make sure that your baby isn't only sleeping with their head facing one way all the time and you should be fine.
We purchased one for DD when she was diagnosed with reflux a few weeks after she came home from the NICU. She was in a bassinet for a few weeks, but the RNP was amazing for her reflux. Also, the shape of it makes it easy to snuggle them into it, the bassinet was too roomy for our preemie.
