  • I don't know if its a UO, but I hate when people ask me the "Are you gonna do....?" questions. Why does it matter to you if I breast feed or get an epi??? If you have a reason that makes sense to.me, then I'll answer. If not, mind your griffin business!!

  • LMAO!  Yes I did!  Here goes.  Owls are creepy and I don't know why anyone would want them for their baby stuff (toys, bedding, clothes).  I mean, it's like a flying cat with huge eyes that can turn it's head all the way around.  Plus, the colors that go with owls are totally NMS.

Ha ha!  There is something very Exorcist about owls.  I think they're really cool, but not so much for babies.

I think they are cute! But I haven't planned to buy any owl stuff. I tend to like clothes with giraffes or elephants but not animal nurseries

I have found that it is because they want to either give you advice or tell their horror stories.

  • I don't care if you're pregnant, I do not think that yoga pants or leggings are appropriate for a business causal workplace.  I'm not talking about leggings worn under a sweater dress (and I mean dress, not tunic).  I'm not saying you need to spend a ton on maternity work clothes, but you can find reasonably priced maternity pants that are comfortable.  Save the yoga pants for the gym, where they belong.

100% agree. You can find other things to wear pregnant than yoga pants or leggings. Not professional at all. When I managed at the bank, I had a teller who wore black shape up sneakers. I hated it and told her she couldn't wear them. She said she cleared it with the district manager before and I checked and she had. She was behind a counter so it didnt bother me too much.

  • Maybe more of a vent than a UO but iIt is so annoying when the same people at work ask me if I'm ok everyday....yes, I am fine...I'm pregnant, not dying...and you don't care anyways, so stop asking me! UGH!

I think you're right.  I was at a baby shower for a coworker yesterday and people just launched into their horror stories.  The poor girl clearly did not want to hear all at once how kids will ruin your car interior with melted crayons, break everything in the house, put holes in doors with hammers, etc.  If they had started with birthing stories, I would have led her out of the room!

  • After this pregnancy, I feel like some pregnant woman DO deserve a little extra consideration as far as having health problems.  I mean, at this point, I'm barely hanging on being able to get to work at all.  So, yeah, this pregnancy IS a disability for me.

last week, I asked to be excused from a training I was helping with because I had to be there at 7:30am.  I told them I could get there by 8:30, but didn't feel right committing to 7:30 since at that time, I'm usually cleaning up the pee puddle I created after vomitting for a good while.  Whelp, today I got in trouble for even asking to be excused.  Got in trouble WHILE they were all staring at my Holter monitor and telling me "well, you seem fine when you're here".  Yeah, asshat, that's the point.  I'm only sick after laying down for 8 hours.  That's why they think my heart is fvcked.

Keep in mind, we work in the MEDICAL FIELD.

Or for me I was asked when I am due, so I told her and said " Yeah, I am a little bigger this time around", and she was like " Um....yeah, you are definitely bigger" with like a look of wow you have 17 more weeks to go, ugh........  Thanks.....

You are so not going to like my nursery! To go along with this, I hate Winnie the Pooh bedding. Love him, hate the bedding. Really, I dislike any character bedding...DD would kill for a Disney Princess set but no way am I going there. It's bad enough she had princess sandals over the summer.

Uh-oh! Don't come to my house! I have owls, song birds and bees coexisting in my decor and in the baby's one and a half walls of the spare room.  But then, I hate all inanimate objects (aka trucks) used in decorating a baby's room.  So, I have my own UO.  Oh, and monkeys.  Monkey decorations scare the crap out of me...

THIS!!! It is so annoying! I always say, if they want to make a big stink about Christmas and how they don't celebrate it, blah blah blah...then I think they should have to work on Christmas....I mean, why do you get to enjoy a day off if you don't celebrate the day! I have an atheist friend that even celebrates Christmas by decorating and giving presents to his children...all the cool Christmas traditions...and get this...he even says Merry Christmas! GASP!!

Yes, I HATE Classic Winnie the pooh bedding, ick.  We are getting DS a twin bed soon and therefore new sheets and a bed set, I really want to avoid any busy character pattern, I intend to keep it neutral and just compromise on room accents that will excite him.  We just bought him a pair of light up Cars 2 Sneakers (cheap at kohls) and that kinda drives me nuts but I guess it needs to be give and take.  I prefer the plain sneakers on him, sigh....

...and exercise. One of my DH's MALE friends knows I used to work out 5 days/week before I got pregnant and haven't done anything more than walking since I got pregnant. He decided to tell my DH to encourage me to work out more since "pregnant people can even run marathons!"

    WTF

I don't even run marathons when I'm not pregnant, and how is it any of his business?! And has HE ever been pregnant with morning sickness?

I'm getting a few done but my reasoning is because of my mom. There are no pics of her preg with me. I just think about what if I die? I want to leave my baby girl with the things I miss not having with my mom. So I'm writing the pregnancy journal and getting a few pics done.

I used to hate Velcro shoes, but now that DD is in the stage where she must do everything herself or have a meltdown, they are a lifesaver!  And one of the side effects of Turner Syndrome is very puffy feet, so Velcro Mary Jane's are one of the only styles that will fit her puffy little feet.  It's very hard to find shoes with laces that I can stuff her feet into.  I do avoid the blinking lights though!

Agreed! Im tired of the PC crowd crying and whining over Christmas. We celebrate Christmas in North America, if you don't like it, feel free to go some where else. I don't get offended if people say Happy Hanukkah to me even though i'm not Jewish so why is Christmas such a horrible word.

I just googled velcro mary janes and there are some cute ones! I could do those. I think it's mostly the sneakers and then the boys dress shoes that are velcro.

Similarly, I hate when people have an issue with others using the term 'Xmas' whether on Facebook or through text or whatever. It is not removing 'Christ' from Christmas. I am a religious person and I use Xmas. It is quicker to type... that is all.

  • I think baby wipes are disgusting. The texture, the smell, and the wetness. We don't and won't use them. The hospital did not allow then and the pedi didn't want them used until after 2 months. It makes me want to barf when I see little kids/babies getting wet wipe sponge baths.

Velcro = you not having to put your toddlers shoes on while you are already taking care of another kid and pregnant.  Velcro is heaven.

I do agree about the blinking shoes.  I don't like them at all and I wouldn't want to deal with the wrath of a kid who realizes that their shoes don't blink anymore.  What do you do then?!

This is not a disagreement, just lack of knowledge by a FTM--how else do you do it if you don't use baby wipes?

This made me smile.  Pokey kindergartners are exactly who velcro shoes were made for.  I don't even think the KG teachers will except shoes that tie anymore.  ;-)

I do have to agree that I hate light up boy's sneakers, though.  yet, I still bought them (fortunately, they're not cool by the time they reach 4 or 5).  But twinkle toes ... yeah, they're g-d-awful, but pretty much unavoidable for a girl.  See for yourself ...

Agreed! I actually think of Christmas as a secular holiday. My dad and SM are agnostic and my mom and her husband are Sufi, but we celebrated Christmas growing up, and I'll do so with my kids. It's not a religious holiday to many people, it's a family holiday. Even its roots are only loosely religious.

I hate Winnie the Pooh anything.  I had a friend in high school (yes as in upper teenage years) that was obsessed with all things Winnie the Pooh and I can't even stomach it anymore.  I also hate all character themed nurseries.

I wouldn't mind it so much for an older child to have Disney Princess or Toy Story stuff as long as they choose it and like it.
