Several years ago when I was living in KC, there was a radio show on Sat nites that played 70s and 80s. The first DJ they had would talk about "retro music." Then they hired a new guy who would say stuff like "Thanks for listening to the oldies with me." That always made me bristle--Oldies are music from the 50s and 60s that my parents listened to! Not the stuff from when I was a kid/teenager. I must not have been the only one to take offense, though. Wasn't too long before that guy no longer did the show anymore and they went back to calling it "retro."

Yikes! I turned on the radio today and didn't recognize one song on the Top 40 station. So I turned it off and turned on my iPod and listened to Pearl Jam, thankyouverymuch. (Speaking of which DH was watching a documentary on them last night---20 years since Ten came out. One of the first albums I bought. That officially makes me old).

Re: NBR: When did the music from my teens....
We have a radio station in our area called Gen X. It plays all 80s and 90s music- it's a flashback to high school.
I love it.
