So it?s already been decided if and when we ever have a boy it will be Morgan, Morgan James actually. However DH is always so concerned about how the name could be made fun of. With Morgan he thinks they will call him Big M little Organ. Don?t even get me started on the whole Feicity = falatio debate.
Does any one else think of possible nick names when thinking of names?
Re: Big M little Organ
I...don't get it... Is that some sort of penis reference?
I'd be more concerned that it's more commonly used for girls (but not that concerned anyway, it's a good name).
I agree, he's way over thinking it.
I've only known girls with this name IRL, though I do prefer it on a boy.
My sister is named Morgan and the only, I guess, teasing she got from it was people referring to her as the Morgue. I don't think it ever bothered her.
The thing I would be the most worried about is the gender. Morgan is used more for girls these days, so your sons kindergarten teacher would be calling his name on the first day of school waiting for a girl to raise her hand. He will most likely be one of 4 or 5 Morgans in his grade, and will more then likely be the only boy. I could see that being a potential problem starting pretty young when all the Michaels and Andrews realize your son has the same name as some of the girls.
I would be more worried about that type of teasing rather then nicknames etc, IMO.
The only time I have ever heard Big M, little organ was in the Beverly Hillbillies movie - that's a pretty obscure reference. Kids will find something to make fun of, I don't think there's any way to avoid it. Whether it's your son's name or something else about him, bullies will be bullies.
My DH has the same concerns about Jack so I dropped it as well. I was in love with it but I don't want to make it too easy for kids to make fun of our son.
We are concerned about teasing, especially regarding the boy's name. A great site is parents connect. You can look up at name and click "considering this name" and it will tell you what people who have that name think about it and if they got bullied/teased, what they were called. Good luck!
This is what I was thinking.
In case it will reassure him, I really doubt your future DS classmates are going to be big Beverly Hillbillies fans....
And, to be honest, if the kids DO happen to come up with that nickname, I would actually be kind of impressed....it took me a minute to get it.
I love Morgan for a boy. Morgan James is great!
I had never heard big M little organ before coming on this board. I think about possibly teasing, but frankly, children will pick on someone they don't like for a multitude of reasons. If not their name, their hair color, body shape/size or skill level. I wouldn't over think it too much.
Well then they should just spell it mORGAN, and there won't be any problems.

I went to HS with a Morgan. People called her Morgasm, Morganism, Mork...
She survived, although I'm not sure she appreciated the nns.
Does anyone remember that 80's-90's SNL skit where the couple is trying to name their baby & the husband keeps shoot things down because it will get made fun of by the kid's future classmates? Then there's a delivery guy at the door with a package for "Mr. Asswipe" and the guy freaks out because "It's pronounced Ah-sweep-A!!!!!".
