is this a contraction?

I"m a FTM and I"m so clueless.....

It feels like period cramps but it stretched from my sides to the middle and it last for less than a minute than goes away. I'm going to start timing them and see if I see any patterns and try and relax. I have had a very obnoxious day so that may be part of it.....

Re: is this a contraction?

  • Yes, that is a contraction.  Time them and call your OB if they get regular or stronger.

  • You should call your OB since they are period-like cramps. They can be a sign of pre-term labor.

  • yep, a contraction.  I've been getting them for a week or so - most times I get 2-4 in half an hour or so and then they go away for hours.  Definitely haven't been unbearable, like you said, it just feels like my period is about to start

  • I've been getting these too. I keep telling myself 9 more days, then you can come. Just 9 more days....even tho right now would be fantastic.

  • Yeah he needs to hold out for a couple more weeks. I need him well done and I need my dad to be back form his business trip in Colombia. Oh and I still haven't done the car seat or my hospital back so this would just be a total inconvenience...haha

  • I had some yesterday. I walked around, drank some water, and laid on my left side and they stopped.

  • I've been having the period like cramping for a little over a week now.  I brought it up to my because I didn't know what it was.  He just said "oh good, your body is just preparing for labor!"  I was 37 weeks at the time he told me this so he looked at it as a good sign.  Since you aren't considered full term yet, I don't know if your OB would be so happy.
  • yeah, I'm keeping an eye on it. My mom had all 3 of her babies early so I'm going to play it safe and listen to my body just in case genetics play a role in that too.

I can't even measure my contractions right now because my whole back and ribs and everything are hurting so I'm just going to try and relax. If they get worse, I'll know.

  • The guessing game is always the worst!  I figure I'm fine until I really start hurting and I can time them easily.  But I'm a FTM, so what do I know? lol
