We are finally starting to have some luck potty training DS. This week, we gave in and started bribing him -right now he gets to pick a sticker, piece of candy, or matchbox car from a box after he successfully uses the potty. We still have to prompt him to go try - he isn't going in there on his own - and he is still having about three accidents a day. And I have no idea how things will go when we run out of rewards, but at least he is receptive to it again.
My issue is with his behavior sometimes in the bathroom. He will do the same types of attention-seeking that he does elsewhere - screaming and shrieking, growling at me, getting into things. He probably doesn't need help with the process, other than dumping the pee from his potty chair into the toilet, but he likes to have help. So I am trying to tell him that if he screams at me, he needs to do it himself and I will leave the bathroom. And then it just devolves into craziness - he starts getting into things, screams more, makes a mess, and then refuses to get dressed or come out of the bathroom.
It seems like if he doesn't pee right away, he isn't going to. He's just going to play around. I feel like I should let him sit on the potty as long as he needs to, but what do I do when he's just getting into trouble?
