Can you exchange diapers??

So, at the shower, my mom had a diaper raffle, and we got 30 packages of diapers!!  It's awesome!!!  But...we got several packages of Huggies, and I am not a fan of them.  I've had lots of experience with them (nanny jobs, cousins, siblings), and they tend to leak, especially for boys.

My cousin said she thought I could exchange them for a different brand, but she wasn't positive.  She also said I might need to add them to my registry to be able to return them.  We registered at BRU and Target.  Just thought I'd ask here before going to the store and looking like an idiot if you can't.  Thanks in advance!

Re: Can you exchange diapers??

  • I'm pretty sure the people at BRU told us that you can return them if they are the wrong size. I'm assuming you can return them for a different brand too. I would say you definitely can if you have a gift receipt.

  • If the boxes are un opened i dont see why they would have a problem with taking them back especially if you are just exchanging them youre not trying to get money back or anything

  • Pretty sure BRU specifically told us that they would exchange any unopened packages of diapers of sizes, brands and pack count they carry.  I would call and check though.

  • Easiest way to do this is to add all those packages on your registry and then go and exchange them at BRU. If it's unopened AND it's on your registry, I don't see the problem w/exchanging themSmile

  • Stores in general will accept returns on anything that they have on their shelves provided the package is unopened.  Having a receipt means getting money back; no receipt means getting store credit.  You should have no problem with an exchange.  Double-check their inventory, though, since there are a lot of different package sizes for each brand and BRU may not carry them all.  However, if you just go try to return them, they'll let you know which ones they can and can't take.
  • Walmart will take anything and everything back. I would do that as a last resort though b/c you have to take it as store credit.

  • I used to work in customer service at Target. If you have a registry there you go in print off your registry purchase log (the purchase log not the list of things you registered for) any item that is from target you can return with that even if you do not have a reciept or it isn't on your registry. If the item is not from target (and yes they do only carry certain ones and will know if it didn't come from there) you won't be able to return it.

With DS I only used Huggies. I didn't see the difference between pampers and huggies, and he got a rash from luvs. Maybe keep 1 package and try them out. You may be suprised.
