Yeast infection in preschooler?

I think dd has a yeast infection- not a diaper yeast rash, but an actual internal vaginal yeast infection.

I'm not going to call the after hours line for her doctor, it can wait until tomorrow. But in the meantime I'm curious- what will they be able to to give me to help her? I can't imagine using something like Monistat internally on a 3 y/o!

  • They most likely tell you to use lotramin- the foot cream!

  • What makes you think it's a yeast infection? Sometimes DD gets red and itchy and it's usually from not wiping well. I put some triple paste on and she's good by morning.

  • DD is prone to yeast infections with antibiotics.  They usually give us an Rx for Diflucan along with her antibiotics.  Sometimes they will just tell us to use monistat, but I usually opt for the Diflucan.
