Trouble TTC

Two LH surges days apart?

Two months in a row now, I've gotten a positive OPK around day 12 or 13 in the afternoon that is negative by the next morning, and then a second positive a few days later, around day 14 or 15.

Last month, I ended up going for an ultrasound the day after my first positive, and my follicle was only 14 mm. I had a second surge and then went for an IUI about three days later.

Has this happened to anybody else? I don't have any idea what is going on with my body, but why would I surge twice like that two months in a row? I thought last month was just a fluke.

I use the Clearblue Digital OPKs with the smiley face, so it's not as if I'm reading the results wrong.

Re: Two LH surges days apart?

  • I had this happen to me, but I have PCOS so it's not abnormal for that to happen to me.  I think this can happen from time to time with anyone, though.  Has your RE weighed in on what it could mean, since it's happened to you a couple of times now?

  • Last month I think she just assumed I had gotten a false positive on the OPK because by the next day, as I said, my LH was down according to b/w and the OPK was negative. It's weird that it happened two months in a row now. We're just doing TI this month, so I haven't been in contact with the RE.

  • Thanks so much! I'm not really worried about it -- I was more curious BUT I will be worried about it when it comes time to schedule an IUI again! Oh well, hopefully it won't keep happening.
