Doppler

Monday I had my appt and thought we were having an u/s but when we got there she used the doppler, and didn't find a heartbeat. I know its early, I am only 9 weeks, but was very frustrating. The u/s is scheduled for Friday, but my anexity is HIGH until then. Anyone else have the doppler and not find the heartbeat??

9 weeks is EXTREMELY early to find a h/b on a doppler.  My last OB wouldn't try until 12 weeks. 

However, I think it sucks that they were unable find the h/b and then didn't give you a sooner u/s to ease your anxiety some.

Sometimes your dates are a bit off (maybe you O'd later than 14 days, which many women do). So that can be a cause for the doppler not to find the heartbeat. 9 weeks is pretty much the earliest my doc can find it on the doppler. Just try to breathe. I know it's hard to do, but there's only a couple more days to go. If you're really nervous, maybe you could call and see if they can get you in for an u/s any earlier???

I've had one at 10 and wasn't able to hear anything, but the u/s was fine.  They usually say between 10-11 weeks.

They used doppler last week to look for baby's hb when I went in for some bleeding and I was almost 10 weeks. We found the hb, but it sounded very faint and it took her well over 10 mins. to find it with a ton of digging around in my pelvic area. I think it's pretty normal for them to not find a hb this early with a doppler though.

This is exactly what happened to us when we were expecting DD. I had to wait 3 days past the unsuccessful doppler attempt to og in for the ultrasound. Thankfully, everything was fine- but I was a basketcase during the wait period.

I have a home doppler and haven't been able to pick up the HB just yet.  The doc told me that we should be able to at my next apt. at 12 weeks.

I went through something similar yesterday!  We had an u/s at 7 wks and saw the HB and everything looked good.  Yesterday at 9 wks, I had a basic 4 wk appt with my OB and she attempted the doppler, which surprised me as I thought it as early.  She didn't find anything and said not to worry as it's early.  Of course she's right that I shouldn't worry, but I know it's hard not to let the seed of doubt take hold.

I had my first appointment today.  Dr. couldn't find the heartbeat with the doppler and asked that we return in a week because he will have a better chance.  I'm nervous, but not too much as I had an ultrasound at 7 weeks due to some problems and baby was moving and heart beat was strong, and there were no problems with it, and no problems since.  I am 9 weeks also, so I wouldn't worry too much.  Everything will be fine.
