35 weeks and yellow poop?

I can't really find any useful info out there.  I had diarrhea about two weeks ago and the poop was yellow.  Since then my poops have solidified but are still a mustard-y yellow, not brown at all.  I've had no other digestive issues, but my diet did change a few weeks before this started as we are remodeling our kitchen so I've been eating out a lot more.  It's Saturday and I don't want to bother my midwife until Monday, but was wondering if anyone had any theories on what could be causing this.  Oh, and baby dropped about the same time as the diarrhea started, could that be the cause?
Thanks in advance!

  • That could be something with your gall bladder.  Being pregnant increases the odds that you will have issues with your GB, and light colored poop is a symptom. You'd probably also have sharp pain in your right side, below your breast, so if you don't, then it might not be it...but that's what immediately sprang to my mind!  Google it!

    Yellow Stool

Yellow stool can indicate that food is passing through the digestive tract relatively quickly. Yellow stool can be found in people with GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease). Symptoms of GERD include heartburn, chest pain, sore throat, chronic cough, and wheezing. Symptoms are usually worse when lying down or bending. Foods that can worsen GERD symptoms include peppermint, fatty foods, alcohol, coffee, and chocolate.

Yellow stool can also result from insuffient bile output. Bile salts from the liver gives stool its brownish color. When bile output is diminished, it often first appears as yellow stool. If there is a greater reduction in bile output, stool lose almost all of its color, becoming pale or grey.

If the onset is sudden, yellow stool can also be a sign of a bacterial infection in the intestines.

  • Loose and/or yellow poop is a sign of a lot of fat in your poop. Usually its when you are not absorbing fat well.  Are you having any cramping or bloating after eating high fat meals?

  • sometimes changes like this can be from too much fat in your diet. You mentioned you have been eating out a bit more since doing the remodeling of your kitchen, so it is possibly due to this?
