I have heard from several people not to register at Target mainly because of their horrible return policy (which I'm not exactly sure what that is). I really want to register there because I love Target! I live in Indianapolis so we have a BRU and BuyBuy Baby is opening, but I kind of have a grudge against BRU because I've had such a horrible time finding registry items for friends there. Also, I have a lot of family and friends from smaller cities that have Targets. What should I do? Meijer?? Any thoughts?

Re: Target registry? Not a good idea??
Personally I wouldn't register at Target, yes they have cute stuff IF IT'S IN STOCK. The two major gripes with Target is their return policy and the fact that stuff is never ever in stock.
Buy Buy Baby and Amazon would be my top picks.
I registered the for my son Ryker and I had to return doubles from the babyshower, no biggie though and we didnt have any problems.
My only thing I would recommend is to h ave your friends/family make sure once they buy something off of the registry to make sure the cashier does their job so you dont get a ton of double. I got 3 baby slings ha ha.
If I were in the states Id register there!
My top pick for registering is MyRegistry.com
I picked it because you can go all over the internet and register for things and it keeps track the same as a registry at a store. I wanted a lot from all over so that's why I picked it. It's super user friendly so I love it!
I registered at Target for my wedding and for the baby. I haven't had issues returning anything.
I am noticing that some things aren't available but I also registered at Buy Buy Baby. I think it's just personal preference due to your experience at your local Target.

MY SIL registered at target, she ended up having a boy and not a girl. She was tokld girl at the ultrasound so everything she registered for was pink or very girly. Not many people bought stuff off the registry, however target let me bring everything up there (even the carseat and bedding and stroller which was all was assembled) while my SIL was in the hospital and let me exchange EVERYTHING as long as i was doing an exchange and not asking for cash back. I thought that was a very reasonable request.
Everything I exchanged was not even purchased from her registry. They gave me no problem, they didn't hesitate and were very understanding. It was all purchased in early January, and when I returned it it was the last couple days in March. Every Item was opened! I have been saying good things about target ever since.
I registered at Target for my wedding and the baby and have had no problems. I think that a lot of people that complain, about any store registry, is that they don't give cash back. But I don't, personally, know of any store that gives cash back for a registry gift. The person bought you a gift, you can exchange it and get a gift. If that guest wanted to give you cash they would have. (Sorry, that kind of gets my goat as I know people who registered for expensive wedding gifts and then attempted to take them back for cash. I am not saying you would do this.)
I think there is a time frame that you have to return the gifts within, maybe 60 days, but as long as you have your shower a month before your baby, you should have time to return anything that you don't want. I guess I figure if you registered for it you want it, right? I would check the policy on breast pumps as some stores will take them back and some will not.
I think there was some problem with the website when they were redo-ing it. But mine has been fine.

I had a terrible time at Target too. I had my wedding registry with them. It may vary by store, since many of you have had no problem. Like Allie, Without a gift receipt, I could not return anything over $25 value, even though it was on my registry. I got stuck with a $50 laundry sorter/basket, that wouldn't fit in my laundry room, bc I couldn't return it and my aunt didn't have a gift receipt. Anything under $25, they will give you store credit if you supply your license and don't do it with more than $200 worth of items in one year. Oh and the exchange....yeah you can exchange, good luck if someone purchases something between now and Christmas you got a 90% chance you won't be able to find the same product in March (like clothes, bedding, etc).
This time around, I'm going with BRU and Amazon, just to get completion/discount coupons, since I already had a shower for DS #1.
Same here! We're also registered at BRU, but if an item is less expensive at Target, I switch it over (our pack n play was nearly $50 less at Target!)
