I have a call into my doctor's office but figured I would consult the good ladies of The Bump while I am waiting for a call back in my efforts not to freak out. For the past couple of days, I have been seeing spots or stars in my peripheral vision. Nothing major, almost like a shooting star here and there when I stand up or sit down and occasionally when walking. Today I noticed these spots as I was sitting down in a client meeting, which is what led me to call my doc. Of course, I googled and now I have diagnosed myself with Pre-E and every other terrible disease out there. Has anyone experienced this?
BTW, I am 27 weeks today. (I think I have a ticker but I am not sure.)
UPDATE: I work an hour from the hospital so in an effort to avoid going to triage for something that could be nothing, the doc had me have my blood pressure taken. If it was high, I was headed to triage. However, it was 97/69 so no problem with high blood pressure there. She also said I may just be really dehydrated and, at this point, I need to drink a ton of water, rest, and monitor the "stars". Thanks for your kind thoughts! They calmed me down while waiting for the doctor to call.
Re: UPDATED: Seeing "stars"
Swimming all around?
I have this now and prepregnancy. It's a change in your BP. Not nothing to worry about. If you bend over so your hair is hanging then flip it up really fast you will see them too.
Thank you for the quick responses! I am still waiting for my doctor to call me back but I feel much better to hear that it is normal. For some reason, I just got really nervous about this.
If you're talking about seeing the little black dots out of the corner of your eye, I've had that for a while now. Unless you're blacking out, I don't think seeing stars is a cause for concern.
I have them, too. I got them before getting pregnant, and found they were related to being dehydrated. I get them more now (and am planning on mentioning them in my appointment on Wednesday), but in general I think they're ok, so long as you don't have the other warning signs of pre-e or another problem.
But after BGG's post this morning, I'm pro calling your doctor!
