Flu shot for LO?

My DD is 8 months today. Her pediatrician has recommended she get a flu shot (which I believe includes H1N1 as well). Apparently at this age they have to get the shot in 2 doses, 1 month apart.

The CDC is now recommending that everyone over 6 months get the shot. I need to do more research, but I'm kinda leery of this....thinking about canceling the appointment.

Just curious, what are you doing for your LO?

absolutely she got it. our pedi is or it (as were we).

We got it. Why are you leery about it? I would much rather do the flu shot than have my baby get the flu.

Absolutely getting the flu shot!  All of us have already gotten it except DS2--just waiting for his 6 mos check up in a couple of days.  Like pp, I would much rather do the shots than deal with the flu which can result in serious complications in infants.

Vaccines in general make me nervous (family history of a bad reaction to the MMR) but I obviously don't want her catching measles/mumps, etc. so she's had all vaccines on the recommended schedule, and we'll continue to do so.

I read about some bad side effects, and several countries that are banning the shot for kids under 5. 

I'm probably just being paranoid but I want to be sure I'm making an informed decision for DD.

My boys got their first dose at their 6 months appointment, they'll be getting the second here in a couple of weeks. There was absolutely no contest, we knew they'd be getting it as soon as they were able. DH and I got ours in August.

DS got his first one, DH got his, and I'm getting mine next week. No big deal. I got one when I was KU last year, too.

Of course she'll be getting it.  I work in healthcare and have seen the flu kill infants.  What exactly are you leery about?  I don't get it.

Yep. She got her first dose last week and will get the 2nd next month. I get mine this coming week.

Yes, DD got the first half of the flu shot at her 6 month appointment and is going for the second half in a couple weeks.   I was a little hesitant but knew in the long run it was best for her.  And after talking to the pedi and the pedi highly recommending it we were ok with the decision. Pedi has seen babies and older kids die from flu complications.

DD got the flu shot as well as the booster. She ran a little fever after but is perfectly fine now. I'd rather have her get the flu shot than the actual flu.
