Dh and I save all of it for 12 months (I tally it up monthly), then we cash it in and either spend it on us or deposit it into our savings account.

Re: What do you do with your loose change?
I have a jar I put all our change in. Once it is filled up, I will go to our credit union and deposit it and put in our savings account.
We used to roll the quarters and save them when we needed to go to the laundromat but now that we have our own W&D, no need for it!
It goes into a piggy bank until it is heavy, then we take it to the credit union and change it to bills. When I was a kid, my parents had a huge glass bottle (think water cooler, only glass) they would put all their change into, and once ayear, we'd roll it and it would be us kids' souvenir money on vacation.

I am determined to fill a half Poland Spring jug (half the size of the huge ones.) We've been filling it since we moved into our house - so 8 years now - and it's not even half full yet! I hate carrying change, so I'm constantly putting change in it, but it just never seems to fill. But man, is it heavy! And the cool part is it's almost entirely quarters so when we finally do fill it and cash it in (if we can lift it) we'll have a nice chunk of money to either put towards something or put into savings!
I should mention that I also keep a vase on my desk at work for change that I get back from buying my lunch and that thing is just about full with all quarters and dimes. I should bring it home to add to the jug!
I have a jar in the laundry room from DH's pockets and BIL's when he lived with us -- and I have a jar on our dresser -- I empty it into a bigger jar when full and then i have a coin sorter thing that sorts it and then you put it in rolls. I took it to the bank for DD's college fund -- we had like 600 bucks or something -- this was from years of savings it. Im not sure how much we have now, I havent rolled it in a while.
Growing up, we had the glass water jug as well -- my dad used to roll it every so often and gave my brother and I some money from it. My mom still uses it.
