I love this name for a boy, but I've seen multiple references to little girls named James lately. Since Avery is already used by more girls than boys now, does the name James Avery say girl or boy to you?
Ha! I wondered why it sounded familiar! I thought maybe it was an actor or something.
I know they started in TX (where I live) and I think EVERYONE owned a piece of James Avery jewelry! Looks like they are basically TX / OK and the South. But if OP lives up North, might not be a big deal at all!

That's why I know it! My dad and step mom live in TX and have bought me James Avery jewelry before!
(PS--Congrats cheese.fiend! I remember you from TTGP, but you were gone by the time you got your BFP. )

Thank you so much!! And congrats to you as well! It seems like so many TTGP ladies are March mamas! I'm jealous of your fun birth month board!
Wow, I didn't know there was a jewelry store by the name of James Avery in Texas. Even though I'm from Wisconsin, both my husband and I have quite a few relatives that have moved to Texas, so it's definitely something to consider. Thanks!
I know people try to make it unisex, but James will only ever be a boy name to me. Avery does strike me as a bit more feminine, but I think it works well as a middle name for a boy. (I just don't particularly like it for a first name.)
Thanks for all the input! I hadn't heard of the actor James Avery before (I've seen him in Fresh Prince of Bel Air, but I wouldn't have known his name). I'm going to look like a dork here, but that actor actually played a Klingon in a few episodes of Star Trek: Enterprise, a fact which delights the Trekkie in me.
Of course, Cheese and I would both know this since we're Texans. OP, like I said, I think it's a Southern thing so I don't think you have any worries up in Wisconsin.
No siggy pic until TB gets rid of Twitter and FB links
Re: James Avery
It says boy to me but it is also the name of a REALLY popular jewelry store... but maybe it's just a regional chain?

James is all boy to me, not even close to neutral. Avery could go either way, but James Avery I would assume is a boy.

I was going to say the same thing, but I figured it was only a Texas thing. It wouldn't stop me from using the name if I lived elsewhere.

James is definitely all boy.
If Avery was a first name I would assume girl, but I guess it can be either.
This....haha.
