complain about being in a booster seat or did you take them out early? My friend is complaining that her DD will be in a booster seat until she is 8 and says how her DD would never stay in a high back once she was in elementary school.

Re: Does/did your elementary school student
It's the law here that they have to be in a booster until they're 8 or 80 lbs, so everyone does it. I know Kindergarteners last year that were still in 5-points.
We did take the backs off for him this summer - he was getting too tall, but he never really complained.
Yeah, the same law here too. She has her 7yo and 5yo in backless boosters and apparently thinks the kids would fit better without the booster and just with a seat belt. I usually just roll my eyes (on the phone) but this one I said something about, I know I would not change her minds but I said that for me I could not care less if my kids eventually complain or if their friends are in backless boosters, my kids will not be. I said that the reason there is this law is b/c kids have been hurt and killed and it saves lives. I said that I am sure most kids would get through childhood just fine and that God-forbid a kid is hurt or killed and not in the best protection for them how can the parents live with themself?
And I am not the crazy car-seat lady, I thought DS would be in a 5-pt until he was in 1st grade but his car seat expired at 4 1/2yo and I got him a Sunshine booster and am happy with it and he sits in it well and the side-impact protection is better than our old Marathon. I just don't for the life of me understand finding it annoying that your kid needs a booster seat.
When my older kids were 7 they started complaining about the booster. And that's when we took the backs off (they're tall kids anyway but the law here is until 8 y/o).
The law is a recent one so a lot of my older girls' friends were out of boosters early.
She doesn't complain, usually I am the ones carting her friends and not vice versa. So she doesn't notice. I know her 7 almost 8 year old friend, rides without a booster (8 is the law) but I made her ride in one in my car.
