Clicky Poll: Help me decide on sneakers for LO

I usually don't like baby blue on guys but since LO is so young still, I'm open to it...the only thing is that I'm trying to buy the next size up (I usually do that so I have a pair ready to go and I'm not scrambling for shoes when he outgrows a size), so I'm thinking he might be wearing this anywhere around 2-3 yrs old. But do you think this shoe looks too "girly" for a toddler around that age?

  • I think it's very unisex and could see it working either way. So no, not too girly. Smile

  • I said it could go either way just b/c at age 2 - 3, they normally really look like a boy or a girl.  Right now, if I put DD in something blue, everyone things she is a boy b/c she is still pretty bald, doesn't have her ear pierced & won't wear bows or headbands so she gets lots of "hey little guy" (even when she is wearing pink!), but when they are older toddlers, I think they are more easily identified as a boy or a girl (regardless of the sneakers).

  • I don't think the shoe is very girly but also not super masculine either if that makes sense.  I don't think he'd be mistaken for a girl in them and I don't think anyone would think he's wearing girl sneakers...but there are definitely more boyish shoes out there.  have you checked the Babysteals archive?

also there is a shoe sale here  and you can get price matches at endless.com by calling them and then 13.6% cashback through BigCrumbs for endless.com purchases :)

  • I like them!  They wouldn't seem out of place on either a girl or a boy to me..

Thanks for the headsup =) Yeah I've already looked through Piperlime (plus many other sites) but these particular baby blue shoes are only $20 total out the door (down from $43) and they have the APMA approval. But they don't have smaller sizes so it's definitely a shoe he's not gonna wear for another 6mo or so.

On a side note, I just found out that not all Stride Rite shoes are APMA approved (maybe that's old news but I had no idea until I was just shopping for shoes this week--since I was out of commission, and MH doesn't notice these things, I didn't realize B was outgrowing his shoes until we saw bruises in the same place on *both* big toes). According to the APMA website, only the SRT line of Stride Rite have the seal of acceptance.
