I've never seen that spelling. I am more familiar with Mariela and think it looks a lot prettier without the y and the extra L.

I've never seen it as Mariela, didn't even know the name existed. I like Mary, and Ella is H's grandmother's name. But our ln is Moore and I don't like Mary Moore so I put the two together.

Definitely prefer traditional Mariella    or Mary Ella.

I prefer Mariella or Marielle.  I also love Marisol, but not sure if you're trying to keep the "ella" in there somewhere.

In case you decide to embrace the "ie," there's also Mariel- like Mariel Hemingway.

I really like Mariel, it was on the list but I was afraid people would pronounce it like Meriel (H's evil aunt) and even worse make it sound like Murry-el (love bill murray, don't want him in my family). And with a M R and E in our last name I expect it would be a mouthful with the short syllable.

Just had to chuckle because my mom's married name is Mary Moore. Seems so completely normal to me.

Just had to chuckle because my mom's married name is Mary Moore. Seems so completely normal to me.  

My former employer's name was Mary Moore as well.  I don't think it's bad at all.  I really like Mary Ella!

I prefer Mariella.  A good friend has a daughter named this.  I love it.

Sounds like you made up your mind, but I'll chime in anyway: I don't like Maryella; like Mariella, love Mariel (any other Redwall fans from childhood out there?)

I'd prefer Mariella, or even double name Mary-Ella.

I need to change my vote.  I said like, but I prefer the spelling Mariella.  If you specifically want it to seem more like a double name of Mary and Ella then I'd suggest using Mary Ella.  And I'm kind of a fan of double names, so I could get on board with that.
