I'm shocked and awed. Little Man has been singing "Head... Toes, Head... Toes" for Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes and "Baa Sheep... Wool". Totally recognizable. Maybe only a few words, but he's SINGING!
Most of you (who've been here for a while) know that Little Man has speech and language delays and that I was concerned about other developmental delays (less so in the last 6 weeks) and that he's getting therapy through Early Intervention. He also goes to "school" (daycare) 3 mornings per week and is interacting with other children his own age.
He knew a LOT of individual words but wasn't really using them. Now he talks all the time. Still mostly single words but I'm getting a few 2 word phrases. I'm so thrilled by the singing. I've been feeling so jealous of all of you who have 2-year-olds or younger who say 3, 4 or more words in a sentence and have conversations. But lately I feel so optimistic that he'll get there sooner than I thought. I know he has a way to go, but he's on the right track.

YAY!
I swear it's like a little door opens in their little brains and the words suddenly start rolling out all at once.
That's so awesome, Robyn!
Delays are so tough when we see so many kiddos progressing faster. Miller "talks" all of the time, but the only thing that makes sense is Dada. Is Aaron using any signs?
When he started with speech therapy I asked about signs and his therapist felt it wasn't necessary, as he knows the words but just wasn't using them. I never felt I had the time to do signing with him before and do feel somewhat badly but as he is making progress, I'm letting that guilt go.

I am so excited for you! It is great to read of every child's accomplishments, but your own are always the best.
That is great, Robyn!
Do you think his sudden word explosion is due to therapy?
Robby tries to sing one song "It's raining it's pouring" due to all the rain lately. It comes out "Nay-ning......nay-ning" that's about it but, it makes me smile :-)
Toddler singing is the BEST! Video please?
Big - 1 year old
Bigger - 6 years old
Biggest - 13 years old
I'll try to get video and if I do, I'll share.
And I do think the word explosion is due to the therapy--a lot of it is that I'M learning how to elicit the words from him. Though he still does a lot of pointing and grunting and forgets to use his words. But it's definitely an improvement.
