I am due in 3 wks and we can not decide on a name for a boy OR a girl. What are you thoughts on the below? Our last name is Bush, so that makes it a little harder since it can sound pervy or too crunchy with the wrong first name (ie. we won't name our kid Rose or Harry). We have an almost 2 year old daughter Finley so would love a name that goes with it.
Boy Names:
Dexter (love the nn Dex and no we don't care about the serial killer issue)
August/Augustus (too crunchy with the last name?)
Callum
Patrick
Lincoln
Sebastian
Girl Names:
Fiona
Piper
Elsa
We are open to suggestions if anyone has anything that goes well with the short German last name
Re: Opinions please
I like these:
August/Augustus
Lincoln
Elsa
LOVE Dexter! It's one of our contenders. The nn Dex is pretty awesome and I usually hate nicknames.
I also love August, but August Bush sounds to crunchy/theme-y.
Fiona get my vote for the girl name.
All the other names I am not a fan of. I really dislike Elsa and Lincoln.
Hmmm. I like Dex best, but don't really think Dex Bush flows well. Honestly I think Patrick sounds great with your LN. Sebastian is NMS. Lincoln would be a no for me due to the presidential thing.
Of your girl names, I like Elsa.
August Bush makes me think of the Anheiser-Busch family...
LOVE Elsa
Out of your girl names,I like Piper best. The others are NMS.

With Finley I like Dexter and Piper
Are you also keen on a unisex name for a second daughter?

Of your boy names, I really like Sebastian. I like Lincoln also, but with your last name, that's two presidents there. Not a fan of Dexter, August, or Callum. Patrick is nice.
For the girls, the only one I like is Fiona.
There was a famous August(us) Busch who founded a beer empire, and I think he has a living son (or grandson) with the same name. Lots of people esp. in the Midwest will think of him if they hear August Bush. Not sure it would totally deter me but here you go.

I like Patrick or Sebastian for a boy.
THIS all the way. I absolutely love the name Lincoln- but Lincoln Bush? Wouldn't do it.
Really love Fiona and Sebastian.
I had a friend named Sebastian in college and we just called him Bastian. He was German and everyone always commented on how much they loved his name.
Fiona is just beautiful and ages well. It's one of those timeless names with good associations.
Boy Names:
Dexter - Like (especially with the nn Dex)
August/Augustus - Love! This is my top pick if you're planning on giving him the nn Gus.
Callum - Meh. I've never liked the way this one sounds (love Cal though).
Patrick - Love. This is my second choice after August.
Lincoln - It's just okay.
Sebastian - Love Sebastian. My #3 pick.
Girl Names:
Fiona - I love Fiona and this would be my pick, but it's way too matchy when paired with big sister Finley.
Piper - Of your girls names, this is probably the best match stylistically with Finley. However... Piper Bush. Pipe Her Bush. 14-year old boys could torture her with that one. I don't know...
Elsa - Love Elsa! This is my first choice.
This. His name actually is August Busch. I love Elsa and Lincoln.
Boy Names:
Dexter - Minus the show reference, I just feel the name in general is too harsh.
August/Augustus - I much prefer Augustus to August but it almost seems to rhyme...
Callum - Love this name (assuming I'm pronouncing it right...Cal-em). Could work out.
Patrick - Definitely a solid name and doesn't sound bad with the LN.
Lincoln - I'd avoid this just because of having a double president reference in one name.
Sebastian - This name is NMS.
Girl Names:
Fiona - This is probably my top choice out of the three contenders. It's pretty and feminine which works with the short last name.
Piper - One of my favorite names, but I'd be hesitant to use it just because of how popular it is. If that doesn't bother you, I think it could work well.
Elsa - I don't think this name flows well with the LN.
I had the EXACT same thought... also love Elsa!

Same. Otherwise I love August!
