I love thanksgiving! Usually we're at my sisters house and she cooks an enormous meal....BUT this year we must go to the MIL's in Louisiana, Im not super excited about this, and I know the food will not be fantastic, I've been listening for years about her bad cooking...
You just sneak away to my mom's house...I will give you directions.

I miss having Thanksgiving in October now that I've moved from Canada to the US.. some days I'm tempted to cook a turkey and the fixings that day just because. I get jealous thinking about my family all enjoying their turkey dinners up there. LOL

My parents are both from the Southwest, and we always had a huge Mexican feast for Thanksgiving. I miss doing that! We had dinner with the in-laws for four of the past five years, and I'm so glad we're skipping this year. They are the nicest people, but their food tastes are so bland! I hosted last year and filled the table with my favorites: sweet potatoes, pumpkin items, roasted squash, brussels sprouts, fresh cranberry sauce, etc. At the end of the meal, my yummy veggies were still sitting there while the plain mashed potatoes and and turkey were gone. Whatever, at least I got the leftovers I liked! The only way I made it through that visit was by drinking early and often. As i don't have that option this year, we're hightailing it out of the country!
I am really worried about Thanksgiving. My younger cousin passed away suddenly this summer and this will be the first big family holiday. We are a vary close family and I know it will be a tough holiday for all of us to stomach. It will be especially rough for my grandparents and his immediate family. My poor grandma doesn't even want to celebrate holidays anymore.
We always have the typical Thankgiving feast. Usually my cousin who passed away would have turkey cooking contest with his dad. With grandparents, aunts, uncles, parents, and cousins, we have about 25-30 people.
Just wanted to let you all know that because of this post I got a Thanksgiving sandwich from my local deli! Roasted turkey, stuffing, cranberries, mayo... mmmmm!!!!

I listened to Christmas songs in the car today (I like Christmas more than Thanksgiving). The CD changed in the player and for the first time this year, I didn't change it. It was LOVER-LY!!!!
Me!! We have out anatomy scan that week, my birthday and my parents anniversary. AND we are hopefully coming out that week if we can hold out. So exciting.
Thanksgiving is my holiday to work this year....so we'll be cooking turkey and all the weekend after. It's the sacrifice I have to make to have Christmas off, which I'd take over Thanksgiving any day :-)
Re: Is anyone else already thinking about...
We are already planning because my whole fam is flying in to have my grandmother's memorial that week as well (she was cremated).
I am so happy to see everyone, but it will be quite different not being able to partake with my wild cousins.
