Babies: 6 - 9 Months

F@#K me!

Seriously!  I have been training for a 5K coming up in 2 weeks. Started training back in July. I was hoping it'd help me lose the rest of the baby weight ( it didn't but whatever). So now, it's two week before the even and my stupid back craps out on me! I had some sciatic pain that started bothering me last week. Well now in the last day and a half it's gotten 10 times worse and it's total lower back pain Crying

Frick! I don't have time for this! I gave myself the past 3 days of rest to help it get better and I do notice improvement but it still hurts. I want to start back up tomorrow slowly and see how it goes but I am so afraid of completely wrecking my back, I don't know what to do. Sooo pissed! I was really looking forward to this.

  • Wow. Talk about suck.

I'd see a therapist who specializes in sciatica. Whether or not you end up doing the 5K, you don't want it to continue hurting.

I'm calling the Dr Monday to see what I should do. I've tried everything that has been suggested so far with no real results. The only thing that has me a little concerned is that I've also had some trouble with my arm going numb from the bicep down in the afternoons lately and I'm not sure if they could be connected or not. Weird stuff.

  • I don't know much about sciatica, but I have severe nerve damage due to multiple abdominal surgeries ( I have Crohn's disease).  It was so severe that I was ODing on pain meds, couldn't get out of bed, etc.  I started seeing an acupuncturist three years ago and today I have little to no pain and am on no meds.  I don't want to seem like a crazy "omg you have to try this" kinda person, because those people drive me nuts. But I had to pass this on because it has made such an incredible difference in my life. However you chose to treat this, I hope you find some relief, nerve pain is miserable! GL!
