Re: ~*~*~ KATIEDID ~*~*~
Not back at work, just trying to get back into the human race. I'll tell you what. This new baby thing is draining. Seriously, I totally underestimated it. It probably does not help that DH went back to work after only 2 weeks, and my mom was a no show on the "being helpful" front, and his mom had to go home after a week (but what a wonderful week).
Some of it I bring on myself. DH's shifts mean he gets up at 3:45am and leaves by 4:30. With a 12hr shift, I make him go to bed while I stay up and do baby duty alone for the whole night. COmbine that with being home all day long, and I feel like I am doing baby duty for anywhere from 48 to 72+ hours straight alone. I just know that it's a job you need to have decent sleep for. As I write, they are looking for a missing officer, a co-worker of DH's who he has known for years. You never know.
But really, I am just loving spending this time with Kate. She is so funny, holding her head up more and more (she's done that from the beginning, really), smiling, watching everything, listening and trying to figure things out. She's just amazing. I cannot believe we got so lucky to have this fabulous girl.
sorry it took so long to get back, my workload is heavy today.
but i'm so happy for you. little kate is just adorable. i know i've said it before, but i just can't stop. she's so cute!
everyone underestimates how hard having a baby is, everyone. you just can't comprehend beforehand. my dh went back to work after 2 weeks too, it's tough. i got really stir crazy after that... cabin fever set in bad. his shift sounds rough, hang in there. it get's harder (as she gets more altert she needs more attention), but then easier (when she'll start to entertain herself).
thanks! he fell asleep during the shoot, i couldn't believe it. he has such trouble sleeping anywhere but his crib, so it was a real surprise. but i'm loving the way they came out - thank you work! (it was a gift from my office)
i was just talking to monkey about doing another gtg. we think it should include husbands this time. i know for sure i'll be bringing mine, there's no way i can do that alone again. poor little dude was frantic by the time we got home. but ebbits was fantastic! yum yum, my h will die (he's such a whore when it comes to food).
i still remember back to you holding porter. you were a natural. i loved that you noticed how he liked being held looking over your left shoulder. don't know why he prefers that, but he still does.
