Epic Fail..... FML NTTGP

Yesterday I thought DH and I were on the way to getting our lives back on track. DH is applying for a really great job, I went to see my old boss for my old job, everything seemed to be going good. Of course (because I feel like God is bored and needs a good laugh), I get kicked while I'm down.

 About 2 weeks ago DH got into a fender bender acting stupid and ended up with a $150 ticket. Last Thursday while on my way to New Orleans for a concert I also received a $150 ticket for speeding. (My friend and I got to talking and I NEVER noticed any speed signs )

Don't you know that today, while trying to get to my class (because I was running late) I get yet another ticket. I was waiting to pull into a parking lot on campus (along with 12 other people). A cop pulls to the side of the road and starts asking everyone in line for their licenses and tells us to pull over up ahead. All 12-15 of us do this. Of course, because life can't get any worse for us, the cops proceed to give ALL OF US a friggin ticket for parking-standing in the street!!!! WTF

Needless to say, I missed my class and I now have a 3rd ticket to pay. FML

Oh I hate tickets...

That sucks! The cops are total a$$es around here once school starts too. They will position one car on the highway to tag speeders and radio another group of cars 2-5 miles up the road to pull people over. People will slow down and think they made it with out a ticket and then BAM, whoop whoop they get the blue and reds in their mirrors. They also, will ticket anyone for nearly anthing..items hanging from the rear view mirror, lights out or dim ect...whatever.

Why are you TTC if neither you or your H have a job?

What was your H doing to "act stupid, get in a car accident and get a ticket?"

Good luck getting your lives together, but yikes! It does sound like you need to get things under control before you bring a baby home.

So you're saying God is bored so he made you choose to do things that got you ticketed? I'm honestly not trying to be snarky, but it sounds like at least two of the three tickets were warranted. The third I'm not really clear on.

We both have jobs. I work at the hospital and he has a job working at a shop but he was supposed to go out of town and that job was pretty much cancelled. Now he's looking for a steady job where he won't be self employed.

We decided to start TTC when everything was going good and we had everything together. This is just like a bump in the road. We plan on getting everything back together before we bring anyone else into our family.

DH got his ticket because he was driving down the road and one of his friends pulled up next to him. They were talking through rolled down windows while driving. After his friend pulled away, DH went to switch lanes and hit another car because he didn't see them.

I don't think God made me do anything to get the tickets. I know they're my (our) fault. I guess today I just feel like the ant and God is the kid with the magnifying glass burning me. Just one of those days...... I think I just wanted to vent a little.

I understand, I had a speeding ticket years ago that at the time I was quite mad about, but I knew then and know now that it was 100% my fault. The best advice I have is just to take ownership (which is sounds like you do), learn from it, and hopefully you won't get any more tickets. I wish you the very best and hope there is good news coming your way.

They way our parking lot at school is, there's a driveway and you have to pull a ticket (it's a pay parking lot) to be let into the lot. Every morning this parking lot fills up and people have to wait while people are leaving to go in. The last time this happened I was in the lot's driveway and a cop pulled up behind me and just waved everyone to keep moving. This time I was still on the side of the road but instead of waving us to keep moving they gave all of us tickets. We weren't even really parked we were waiting to pull into the driveway part of the parking lot.

It really bothers me when people post phrases such yours above.  If you are a believer, which I take it you are, then you know every bump, hardship, and tragedy in our life is in no way caused by God.  He is our strength not the cause of our weakness.  It really bothers me when other Christians say things like this because it's the opposite of what our God is.  If you don't believe, well than that is another story.

I don't really understand it myself. I thought giving us all a ticket was pretty outrageous. If they would have said we were blocking traffic and needed to move I would have gladly moved. There was no need for a ticket.

The best part about it. While we were all pulled over further down the road getting our tickets, I could see another line of cars waiting on the side of the road. Did they get tickets too? I don't know. They just need to put some kind of sign stating no one can wait there or they will be fined.

If you think you have a case, you can take it to traffic court. It's not as difficult as it sounds. My friend did this, I was her witness, and judge found in her favor and threw out the ticket and found the police officer didn't have cause to ticket. If this truly was your fault, just pay the ticket and learn your lesson IMO. Good luck.

Sorry for the offense. I am a believer. I just feel like I'm being kicked when I'm already down. I know eventually things will turn around for the better, I just didn't need the extra jab that today brought on. I just wanted to get a little anger/venting out for the moment.

If there were no "No Stopping or Standing" signs, you might be able to fight that ticket, depending on your state.  I know here in Florida, I have a friend that's a traffic lawyer and he gets people out of tickets all the time.  If your state is like that, look for a ticket lawyer - it's usually cheaper than paying the ticket.

DH seems to think that there's a chance we can fight the ticket. I may look into it next week. I didn't want to go today because I didn't want to say something like a brat and dig myself deeper. By then I'll be able to plead my case and maybe get out of it with a clear head.

No offense taken... it just rubs me the wrong way.  I really hope things start to look up for you.  Lean on your faith... that is one thing that will never let you down.  Will you keep you in my prayers.

I don't know if the laws are the same in your state as they are in mine, but this will get thrown out in court in our state. The cop that operates the radar needs be able to identify the car to the ticketing officer. If they are miles apart, the officer operating the radar gun cannot confirm the offending car.
