What do you do for work? Do you love it? Did you need a college degree to get into your field?
I will start.. I work full time as a nanny for three children, almost 8, almost 4, and just turned 1. I love it! The kids are so fun and I love being my own boss (essentially)! I didn't need a college degree per se, but I do have a lot of experience with children, and just received my AA Degree in Early Childhood Education. After this gig is up, I plan on teaching preschool, so I can put that diploma to work!
Re: GTKY Poll
I am the Career Development Coordinator for a state university. I love working in higher ed.
A Masters/Ph.d is a must to move up anywhere within the university.
He's my fairytale, a dream when I'm not sleeping.
<a href="http://s279.photobucket.com/albums/kk121/behapybride/?action=viewI am an admissions counselor for several master's level programs for a local private catholic university.
I do have my Master's contemplating a PhD possibly down the road... either way I also would like to stay in higher education < giving behappy2day a holla for being in higher ed too!>... moving my way up in admissions or another area of student affairs such as orientation or student developement. We will see what the future brings tho!
I also nanny and do some independent contract work from home. No special education required for either. The last job that I had outside of the home, before having children, was as a Payroll Associate for a large regional library system. No special education required for that either.
ETA that I love what I do! I feel blessed that I'm able to make money and be home with my kids.

I work in accounting. It is boring but I like it. I loved working in audit but right now it's not an option so I prepare consolidated financials. Its okay. I def. don't wake up dying to come to work. You do not need a college degree for all accounting positions but for what I do, you need an undergraduate at the minimum. I just got my MBA and am working on the CPA. It is desired but not required.
ETA: I would LOVE to find a job or own a business that would allow me to be at home more. Is it possible to be a SAHM and still run a business from home?

I'm a Project Manager at a marketing & communications company.
Generally speaking, you need a degree to get in to this field. I sort of fell in to this job without a degree, but now I am unable to get a job anywhere else without one! So I'm going to school part-time (distance education) to get my BMgmt in Marketing. Love the field/industry, not such a big fan of my boss/company though!
I'm a doctoral student and research/teaching assistant. A MA is pretty much required to get into the program, but every so often someone comes in straight from undergrad. (I have an MA in Cinema Studies; this PhD is in Media Studies)

I'm the Financial Officer of a mid sized family owned Landscape company. The title really implies I do a lot more then I do lol Basically I over see anything Financial to do with the company, including the Accounting. I also manage the HR because it's a small company and there is just 2 of us in office, alongside the 2 owners. I like what I do but am definitely ready for a change. I thought the family owned type business was better then the corporate world I was in a few years ago but it has far too much drama and I miss the fast paced life so I keep my eyes open for what's out there.
You typically need a University degree in Accounting or at least Business Management to do what I do. I took "Legal Administration" in College but that's it. I happened to get sh!t lucky that the last company I worked for a few years ago took me under their wing and trained me as a shadow type position to be the F.O's assistant. So when I applied here, they took experience over qualifications.

I work in home health care, right now, my client is my mom. Love my job because I get to help people, and well since my mom is my client, I get to spend a lot of time with her and my dad.
I work through a disability company and I love it, not sure if it's something I will continue doing, but it is what I love for now.
Degree wise, you must have your CNA (Certified Nurse Assistant) to do this.

Ha. This is definately the place to start! I love Master's students but do love the freshman too of course. How fun!
Yeah, it was great for the travel experience! I did it for three years before I transitioned into Student Affairs.

I'm a registered nurse
Do I love it? That's a loaded question. Some days I love it, some days I hate it. I think it's partially because I'm a new nurse, and partially because I'm in an area of nursing that I don't want to do long term. I currently work in a skilled nursing facility (read: nursing home) and I'd much rather be in an outpatient clinic setting or the operating room.
Yes, you need a college degree. You can become an RN by getting an associates degree or bachelors degree, both degrees will let you sit for the national licensure exam. I currently have an associates in nursing and am working on my bachelors (I also have another bachelors degree in kinesiology)

I sell insurance (auto and home). I don't love it. No you don't need a college degree, but I make more than a lot of college graduates.
I work for a brokerage firm...sometimes its ok, other days I dread coming. It's ok, but definitely not want I want to do for the rest of my life.
My job doesn't require a degree (which I think is weird, it's not THAT easy) but I will have my Masters in a month and I hope it will open more doors for me. My dream job is to teach online, I think I would really enjoy it and being able to work from home would be awesome once LO's come along.

My IF blog
I work as a Systems Analyst for Insurance Company.
I don't know if I love my job every single day but I do enjoy it.
I have a Computer Systems Engineering Degree, and my job requires a Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Engineering degree.
I am a pastry chef but I don't have a job at the moment. (We're moving.)
I do love being a pastry chef, it's a lot of fun and the only thing I would choose to do over this is being a SAHM. I did get a degree in culinary arts but it isn't really necessary. You could start as a pastry chef assistant or a pastry cook and eventually move up.
