Trying to Get Pregnant

GTKY Poll

What do you do for work? Do you love it? Did you need a college degree to get into your field?

I will start.. I work full time as a nanny for three children, almost 8, almost 4, and just turned 1. I love it! The kids are so fun and I love being my own boss (essentially)! I didn't need a college degree per se, but I do have a lot of experience with children, and just received my AA Degree in Early Childhood Education. After this gig is up, I plan on teaching preschool, so I can put that diploma to work!

Patiently waiting for our 1st since 9/2010.
Dealing with MFI, good count, good motility, 3% morph-HSG all clear, all other test results came back normal, IUI is our next step
May 2012- Clomid 50mg + IUI = BFN
June- Cycle Break
July- Forced cycle break due to cysts
August- Femara, Trigger, IUI#2= ?

  • I also nanny and do some independent contract work from home.  No special education required for either.  The last job that I had outside of the home, before having children, was as a Payroll Associate for a large regional library system.  No special education required for that either.

ETA that I love what I do!  I feel blessed that I'm able to make money and be home with my kids.

I love my job (most of the time) and I love getting paid to chat with people all day long. Most of the time it doesn't feel like work because I have a lot of entertaining/fun clients. The only downside is the standing-I'm 22 and already am getting varicose veins on my thighs WTH.  I don't have a college degree, but I have my cosmetology license Big Smile

  • I work in accounting. It is boring but I like it. I loved working in audit but right now it's not an option so I prepare consolidated financials. Its okay. I def. don't wake up dying to come to work. You do not need a college degree for all accounting positions but for what I do, you need an undergraduate at the minimum. I just got my MBA and am working on the CPA. It is desired but not required.

ETA: I would LOVE to find a job or own a business that would allow me to be at home more. Is it possible to be a SAHM and still run a business from home?

  • I'm a Project Manager at a marketing & communications company.

Generally speaking, you need a degree to get in to this field. I sort of fell in to this job without a degree, but now I am unable to get a job anywhere else without one! So I'm going to school part-time (distance education) to get my BMgmt in Marketing. Love the field/industry, not such a big fan of my boss/company though!

  • I'm a doctoral student and research/teaching assistant. A MA is pretty much required to get into the program, but every so often someone comes in straight from undergrad. (I have an MA in Cinema Studies; this PhD is in Media Studies)

  • I work in the Entertainment/Media industry. (I'm paranoid, so I don't want to get specific.) I do love it! My entire life I dreamed of working in this field. • I have 2 jobs, I'm a photographer, and I work in retail. I do love the photography, retail is fun sometimes, Thankfully it's a small store! As far as degrees go, it's good to have one for photography and for retail, If you want to do management, I'd say yes. Although my degree is not in either of these 2 fields, but it has helped.
  • I'm the Financial Officer of a mid sized family owned Landscape company. The title really implies I do a lot more then I do lol Basically I over see anything Financial to do with the company, including the Accounting. I also manage the HR because it's a small company and there is just 2 of us in office, alongside the 2 owners. I like what I do but am definitely ready for a change. I thought the family owned type business was better then the corporate world I was in a few years ago but it has far too much drama and I miss the fast paced life so I keep my eyes open for what's out there.

You typically need a University degree in Accounting or at least Business Management to do what I do. I took "Legal Administration" in College but that's it. I happened to get sh!t lucky that the last company I worked for a few years ago took me under their wing and trained me as a shadow type position to be the F.O's assistant. So when I applied here, they took experience over qualifications.

Do I love it?  That's a loaded question.  Some days I love it, some days I hate it.  I think it's partially  because I'm a new nurse, and partially because I'm in an area of nursing that I don't want to do long term.  I currently work in a skilled nursing facility (read: nursing home) and I'd much rather be in an outpatient clinic setting or the operating room.

Yes, you need a college degree.  You can become an RN by getting an associates degree or bachelors degree, both degrees will let you sit for the national licensure exam.  I currently have an associates in nursing and am working on my bachelors (I also have another bachelors degree in kinesiology)

My job doesn't require a degree (which I think is weird, it's not THAT easy) but I will have my Masters in a month and I hope it will open more doors for me.  My dream job is to teach online, I think I would really enjoy it and being able to work from home would be awesome once LO's come along.
