Trying to Get Pregnant

WWYD - Temping

I work out in the mornings 3x a week and wake up at 5.  The rest of the time I wake up at 7.  This causes my temps to fluctuate a lot and my chart is all over the place.  The obvious answer would be to just wake up at 5 all the time to temp, then go back to sleep on the days that I can.  The only problem is that I can't fall back asleep.  So what would you do in this situation?  I want accurate temps AND a full night of sleep!

  • I have this problem too.  I wake up to work out at 4:30 two or three times a week and the rest of the week I temp at 7:30.  Thankfully though, my temps don't seem to vary all that much so I just go with it and temp when I wake up, whenever that may be.  In your situation, I think the only thing to do is the set an alarm and temp everyday at 5.  Seems like the only way you'll get accurate temps.  Good luck!

  • I would work out more during the week and just get up at 5 m-f or whenever and then wake up as early as possible the other days. 
  • I have a similar sitution, and I just temp when I wake up.  I know it's not ideal, but it works and I'm able to see my shift to confirm ovulation.

  • I would get up early so I could maintain the consistency.

  • I wake a few times a night and my DS sometimes wakes me too. I just temp whenever I wake, average them, and that's what's on my chart.
