Washington Babies

Etsy/business idea

Anyone crafty wanna be every working mom's BFF? Design a breast pump bag that doesn't look like a breast pump bag. Seriously can we not get a coach or Kate spade option for lugging that thing all over the country? At least some washable cover in funky fabrics. What other things are you surprised no mom has designed/thought of yet?

  • I bought a boodlebag at the Bumps and Babies fair. I usually use it as a diaper bag, but it works perfect for a pump bag also. The inside comes out and is washable and the pockets are the perfect size for bottles, bags, whatever you want.

  • Sarah, you mean you don't feel like you're "Pumping in Style?" :-)  There is nothing stylish about the bag or pumping.  I don't enjoy it.

  • Ugh, I know! My favorite is how their materials say that when you're done pumping, you can use it as a tote bag. Um, not so much because:

    1) It would still have the pump motor in it, making it not exactly light.

    2) By the time I'm done with that thing, the last thing I want to do is ever look at it again. And,

    3) Anyone who has ever pumped, worked with anyone who pumped, or been married to someone who pumped knows exactly what that black bag is, and it sure isn't a tote bag.

I have my pump (Hygeia Enjoye), flanges attached to bottles, an extra bottle, my wallet, changing pad and wipes, stack of diapers, and a burp rag in the main pocket in this picture.

  • No kidding!  I have a hand-me-down PIS from my SIL, and I think it's from 2005 (?).  The bag is not light, or handy, or easy to carry, and especially not stylish.   The storage pockets suck, too, plus I hate how the motor is built into the bag!  At least the black totes are a little better; I'm always jealous that the 3rd grade teacher can easily carry her pump around.  I just leave mine up in the room hidden in the corner because it's so fugly.

  • I was just thinking about this the other day! I have to lug my stupid pump around campus and it is so ugly!

  • That's a really good idea, and really wouldn't be that hard to do! . But are most pumps the same size? I'm just curious if you would have to make it a one size fits all or not.
