plus size ladies, maternity cloths?

I'm starting to get worried, I have pants that still fit from DD, I was about 50lbs lighter when I got pg with her, so I didn't have a problem getting maternity cloths at the time.  Thank goodness the pants stretch, a lot, so that's not a problem, but where are you going to get your maternity tops from?  I've been looking, motherhood, old navy xxl, various other sites, and I feel like I'm not finding anything, and I think I'm going to freeze my butt off cuz everything is short sleeve, help!!!!

Re: plus size ladies, maternity cloths?

  • I don't have experience here so my advice might not be the best. For me I planned on buying regular tops but bigger because it seems that the styles these days are longer and flowier. I'm not sure if this is an option?

  • Motherhood, Avenue, and JC Penny have plus size maternity. Good luck!

  • JC Penny has a lot online, but I have not seen any plus in the stores around here. I work at a Plus Size store, and a lot of women just buy regular shirts in larger sizes. I got a pair of jeans at Motherhood and love them!

  • I'm a first time mama and I can tell you EBAY is my best friend right now - type in plus size maternity clothes and you will find a gold mine!!! I already found the cutest red wool pea coat for 35.00 I also bought a pair of motherhood maternity jeans for 8.00 that are in barely used condtion and the best deal I got was 10 long sleeve shirts in gently used condition for 20.00 - that means I spent 2 dollars a shirt!!!!! I realize this stuff has been worn by others but I'm not too proud to wear used especially when it means I'm saving more money for what matters most...my sweet little baby.

  • Oh it hasn't been easy at all, believe me. My plan is to get some nice jeans and maybe some cords at Motherhood and some jersey knit tops. Other things like sweaters and dresses, possibly even my coat will come from the non maternity section of a plus size store.

  • I am so glad someone posted about this. Honestly, I'm more concerned about finding pants! I'm in Australia and we have a VERY limited range of maternity clothes in plus sizes. I've just ordered some basic stuff from Old Navy (on its way, can't wait) but I'm worried about what I'm going to wear to work as I get bigger. I had a moment through the week where my pants felt tight and I started to panic!

But thank you ladies for putting me onto Motherhood. I've just looked them up and they ship to Australia too so looks like they'll be getting some of my hard earned $$!!

12 week scan and first OB appointment on Monday - after I've seen my little cub again I might actually believe this is happening and start preparing myself!

  • I've ordered all of my clothes from JC Penney, Motherhood, and Old navy. I know old navy got rid of their plus size line, but I was a 22 pre-pregnancy and their XXL fits with room to spare!
